CPL is a two-phase heat transfer device without the use of external power for working fluid circulation. The evaporator employed in the present study is constructed to have a planar thermo-contact surface so as to adopt well to flat heating element. For such purpose, the wick is structured to have hexahedral envelope structure made of stainless steel with 2㎛ pore size. The present test is carried out increasing heat load to the evaporator in the range of 16W to 40W with varying amount of working fluid. Without reservoir temperature control, due to the higher level in temperature and pressure of evaporator than those of reservoir, the Dry-Out of evaporator is experienced in all cases. By controlling the temperature of reservoir within an appropriate range, the active regulation of operating temperature of CPL is achieved. This result indicates that the reservoir plays an important role for controlling evaporator temperature as it tends to balance temperature and pressure of evaporator.

Combat Vehicle needs to have Self-Powered Air-Conditioning Unit although new combat systems have a tendency to apply an integrated system about heating, cooling and ventilating. A Self Powered air conditioning unit has lots of advantages that keep the cooled environmental in vehicle without using the main power. In this study we studied Diesel Powered Air Conditioning Unit for Armored Combat Vehicle as a special use and military specification and tried to do a case study that applies to one of the unique military combat vehicles. By using Fluent 5.3 we tried to find proper air ducting method and its location in the armored combat vehicle. When we need to upgrade our vehicle with a small modification of previous system, we should choose to the most effective model of them which we can select. The results show that Self-Powered Air-conditioning Unit gives one of the best solutions to the previous vehicles which haven't equipped with cooling unit for their crews.
