애니메이션의 공연예술적 접근 방법 연구 : 애니메이션 공연 작품 '미디어는 살아있다.(Dynamic & Vital The Media)'를 중심으로

애니메이션의 의미가 움직임이 없는 사물이나 이미지에 생명력이 있는 듯한 움직임을 부여한 것이라는 점을 살펴볼 때 애니메이션은 분명 기법중심의 개념이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 기법을 이용한 시각 텍스트들이 어떤 결과물로 완성되어질 때 우리는 비로소 그것을 애니메이션화(animated)되었다 할 수 있는데 여기서 중요하게 살펴 볼 수 있는 것은 그러한 기법이 '어떤 매체를 이용하고 있는 것'인가와 헤아릴 수 없을 만큼 '많고 다양한 매체들이 존재한다'는 것이다. 20세기 이후 예술은 수많은 매체들의 병합과 해체를 통해 미학적 패러다임을 새롭게 변혁시키고 있다. 이러한 새로운 매체들의 실험은 오늘날 테크놀로지의 발달로 인해 더더욱 확장되어지고 있는데 애니메이션도 이제 새로운 패러다임에 맞는 실험적 연구가 필요하며, 그러한 연구를 통해 애니메이션이 예술로서, 학문으로서 미학적 가치를 더더욱 인정받고 표현의 확장을 이룰 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 본 연구는 애니메이션의 공연예술의 접근을 통해 애니메이션의 다양한 매체의 가능성을 연구하고 공연예술의 특성들을 적극 수용하여 애니메이션의 새로운 표현 확장의 가능성을 찾아 볼 것이다. 따라서 공연예술의 이론적 고찰과 더불어 영상매체를 활용한 공연 예술들의 사례를 살펴 볼 것이며 실제 작품을 제작하여 여러 실험들을 적용해 보며 공연예술로서의 애니메 이션의 방법들을 살펴 볼 것이다. 또한 제작된 작품을 분석해보며 애니메이션이 관객과의 소통이 보다 더 가 까워질 수 있는 점들을 찾아내어 이를 통해 애니메이션의 새로운 표현의 요소가 되도록 제시 할 것이다. 애니메이션과 퍼포먼스를 접목한 본 작품은 애니메이션의 새로운 표현과 발전에 있어 그 가능성의 실마리가 되고자 한다. 이러한 연구는 나날이 거대해지고 확장되어지는 미디어에 애니메이션이 앞으로 어떤 중요한 중심적 역할을 확립해 볼 수 있ㄴ느가에 대한 가능성을 찾아보는 것에 의의를 두고자 한다. 아울러 그러한 새로운 시도가 미학적 비평의 대상이 되는가 하는 점을 연구하여 애니메이션이 예술로서 그 의미를 확립하느데 목적이 있다. Considering that animation is to give motionless things or images liveliness, animation can be said to be a technique-centered concept. We say that visual texts are animated, when certain work is produced through this technique. What we have to pay close attention to here is "what media this technique is using" as well as the fact that "there is a good deal of media". Since the 20th century, there has been an aesthetic paradign shift in the area of art through connection and deconstruction of various media. This has been extended to other areas with the help of scientific technology. In this context, a study based on this new paradigm is needed in the area of animation in order to extend the way of expression and reevaluate aesthetic importance of animation as a science as well as an art. This study is to find possibilities to connect various media with animation through approach of performing arts and expand way of expression of animation using unique features peculiar to performing arts. To that end, we will examine theories of performing arts and an actual example of performing arts making use of visual media. In addition, by producing a work showing various experiments we will search for various approaches of animation as a performing arts. Moreover, through analysis of some animation works we will find and suggest easier way to communicate with audience as a new expression element. The product concerned, which links animation to public performance is intended to give a clue of possibility of new expression and development of animation. This study is designed to consider what will be the possible role of animation in the area of media, which is growing in its use and application. Considering that kind of trial can also be an object of aesthetic criticism, we will suggest the meaning of animation as an art.
