This paper proposes the current sensorless control method by using the mathematical modeling of surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor and also dead-time compensation method for reducing estimated current error causes by difference between real output voltage and voltage output command. The proposed control method can be implemented by only processor algorithm internally without any voltage sensing and filtering circuits, current sensor feedback. The MATLAB simulations are carried out for Electric Power Steering System which has surface mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor drive and control system to show the effectiveness of the proposed method and the results show the validity of the proposed method.
