In this study, we evaluated the performance of residential split type air-conditioner using alternative refrigerant R410A. Tested were variations of charging conditions and capillary tubes length. The objective of this study was to quantify the influence of the refrigerant charge and capillary tubes under the steady state operation of a split type air-conditioning system. as the refrigerant charge is increased, both the evaporating and condensing temperature increase gradually, and the cooling capacity, EER, power consumption has optimum refrigerant charge. In case of inner diameter 1.6㎜, length 1000㎜ that a 10% under charge cause 3.5% reduction in the cooling capacity.
