Escaping from large building-centered management behavior, they have realized that the importance of energy management in small building was neglected. Energy saving for energy-guzzling large building is important issue, but energy consumption in small buildings is nothing to sneeze so that energy consumption profiles should be analyzed thoroughly and proper energy saving systems should be prepared urgently for these buildings. This study is to investigate the characteristic and actual state of energy consumption with analyses of energy consumption data in small buildings. Energy consumption rates and patterns were surveyed and analyzed by species of energy used for several kinds of buildings. As results, we found that the natural gas consumption for heating was accounted for the major part of total energy use in residential buildings while the electric power consumption was dominant in commercial buildings.
소형 건축물의 단열 개보수를 통한 에너지절약 효과 분석

Recently the building energy saving has been a very interesting issue because of the sky-rocketing oil price. But the major interests have focused on the large buildings so that small buildings have attracted no attention at all from public sector. Although the amount of building energy consumption is very little, the number of small buildings are tremendous. The building retrofit and field tests were carried out in the present study for two small and old style buildings. For one building the inner insulation method was adopted as well as high insulation window system with low-E-coating window and air-tight fireproof door, and for the other building the exterior insulation method was used instead of interior one. As results we obtained that the energy saving rate and economic performance of the exterior insulation system was much more excellent relative to the interior system in spite of the high investment cost.
