It is well known that a urea-SCR system can reduce effectively NOx emissions of diesel engines. This study introduces the concept of a newly developed electric heated urea-SCR system. This system can reduce NOx emissions effectively even though at low temperature exhaust gas conditions by increasing the surface temperature of SCR electrically. The study shows the effects of the urea pumping pressure and the pressure of assisted air on the NOx reduction efficiencies. The reason of NOx reduction on SCR catalyst without urea injection is also described. This study concludes that the electric heated urea-SCR system equipped with AOC(Ammonia Oxidation Catalyst) will be needed Cor better NOx reduction performance on the base of the engine bench test results.
