본 연구는 SBS TV의 코미디 프로그램 〈웃음을 찾는 사람들〉 중 〈행님아〉의 웃음의 형식에 대해 분석하였다. 코미디프로그램은 사회적 유행어를 만들어 내는 산실이기도 하다. 2005년 방송되어 2006년 5월 종영되기까지 1년 반 동안 큰 인기를 끌었다. 웃음의 형식에 대해 분석해 본다. 서사구조로는 김신영과 그의 형 김태현이 주축이 되고 중간에 노부부가 등장한다. 키가 작고 뚱뚱하고 당당한 동생과 키가 크고 잘 생기고 약하고 비굴한 형은 동생을 골탕 먹이는 구도를 갖는다. 유형은 콩트 퍼포먼스다. 계열체 분석으로는 대립적 측면에서 동생과 형은 이항적 대립구조(binary opposition)의 속성으로 정리된다. 노부부는 다시 이 형제에게 짓궂음으로 참여한다. 유사적(resemblance) 측면에서는 동생이나 형도 모두 고아이고 촌스럽고 사투리를 쓰고 외로운 존재다. 이런 성질에 수용자가 일부 감성적으로 참여하며 즐기고 만족한다. 중반부분에서 캐릭터의 등장 시, 부모를 그리워 할 때, 끝나는 때 정해진 BGM을 통하여 극적 분위기를 살려 긴장을 지속시켜 나간다. 〈행님아〉는 잊어버린 고향과 어려운 시절의 향수를 고아 출신의 대립적 두 형제를 통해 수용자들에게 따뜻하게 다가가는 형식을 통해 인기를 얻을 수 있었다. 사회 풍자 혹은 여운이 남는 메시지가 없는 즐거운 가족에 대한 향수 코미디라 하겠다. Recently TV comedy program keeps its firm footing in each TV broadcasting station, increasing its attractions to the audience. It creates social vogue words. One example is "Oh! Brother" in PSL produced by SBS TV. This program has been on the air for one and half years from 2005 till in May 2006. This paper aims to look into the qualities of laughter in PSL. 1. Narrative Structure: Kim Shin-young and his elder brother, Kim Tae-hyun play the major roles with the aged couple showing up in the middle part. Kim Shin-young is disappointed to see his teacher in trousers instead of her skirt into which he wanted to look through his looking glass. His next door grandma says she will let him look into her own skirt while he feels sad about his mother's death. His elder brother tells a lie to him that he will show the younger brother a picture of his mother at the end(on the air on May 4, 2006). 2. The younger brother is short, rather fat, and is overpowering while the elder brother is tall, handsome, weak and mean. The basic plot here is that the elder brother is giving hard times to the younger brother. 3. The show pattern is format conte performance. 4. The Paradigmatic Analysis: ?Oppositional Perspective: The two brothers are in binary opposition. The aged couple is involved with scolding at them. ?Resemblance: The two brothers, younger and elder, are all orphan. They take a rustic air, speak dialects, and are lonely. On top of that, the audience emotionally participates in the show in amusement and in satisfaction. 5. The middle part of the show introduces characters, describes their longing for parents, and the closing part retains dramatic tension by creating dramatic atmosphere through BGM fixed. "Oh! Brother" was able to gain its attraction through its warm approaches to the audience by means of binary opposition between two orphan brothers who are home-sick and nostalgic for their hard times. This is a social satire or a nostalgic family comedy for amusement with reverberations but without a message.
