This study represents about the flow uniformity and pressure drip in catalytic converter. Present research model type is monolithic catalytic converter and this type have been widely used for satisfy and the regulations of pollutant emissions in automobiles. The flow characteristics in a single monolith automotive catalytic converter were investigated by using a computational simulation method. The numerical model with a general cartesian coordinates system is assumed as the steady state, compressible flow and RNG/k- turbulence model. The inlet flow of catalytic converter is assumed as a ε uniform distributed flow and it was varied from 2㎧ to 20㎧. Flow uniformity can be improved by inlet velocity increasing. As a numerical simulations, the efficiency of model-3 is increased by inserting a inner guide.

This research is represents the application of catalytic converter in motorcycle. Present research model type is monolithic catalytic converter and this type have been widely used for satisfy and the regulations of pollutant emissions in automobiles. This experimental test engine model was used the motorcycle engine. Present research models has base and megaphone type. Normally, the base type shape is used in automotive exhaust system. But megaphone type is not used in automotive exhaust system. Therefore, Megaphone type is applied newly at motorcycle. The Method process of noise experiment for motorcycle was adopted the regulation of KSR-1029. Finally, It was found from the experiment result that more low sound pressure level from using the catalyst monolith in muffler. The results of this experiment will change the direction of the entire study of motorcycle exhaust system.
