        This study is designed to prove the practical aspects of the computer simulation by applying it to the scientific and quantitative analysis of library operations and to get the experience of applying the computer simulation to the field of library science. In this study, I made a model of the reserve reading room in the C university, and analyzed the usage during the period of examination when the usage of books increases remarkably, 1 used the GPSS (General Purpose Simulation System) simulation language as a method of analysing the usage and measuring the optimal number of seats, the effect of 1.to limitation of use-hours and optimal number of added copies. The results of the simulation are summarized as follows : 1. Current 116 seats can satisfy no more than about 60% of usage during the period of examination when the quantity of usage increases remarkably. It is concluded that current 116 seats should be added into 176 seats to cover the current usage. Therefore, the extension of reading room is required. If it is impossible, another method should be found out to solve the problem of seats. 2. Current administration, which has just allowed in-door reading, can bring the users' complaints. In contrast to this, the method designed to permit overnight and weekend loan as well as out-door loan and to regulate the use-hours proportionately, it will not only solve the shortage of seats decrease the exclusive long use but also increase the degree of data-utilization. 3. The result of calculation of optimal added copies number shows that 3-4 books are proper if there are 10 users who want the same book a day, 5-6 books if 20 users, 7-8 books if 30 users, 9-10 books if 40 users and 11-12 books if 50 users. The investigation into the precise degree of data-utilization, however, should be prerequisite to apply the above results of calculation. As mentioned above, computer simulation is expected to be far more efficient than any other analytic method if you precisely analyze the real operations of library and make a model of it.
