의사소통 능력 향상을 위한 한국어 통합교재 단원 구성 전략 분석

이 글에서는 주요 대학에서 사용되고 있는 초급 한국어 통합교재들의 효율성을 살펴보기 위해서 그 교재의 단원 구성 전략을 분석한다. 그 방법으로 그 통합교재들의 단원 구성 전략이 잘 드러나는 한 단원씩을 각각 선택하여 단원 구성요소를 순서대로 제시하고 그 내용과 구성요소간의 관계 및 수업의 흐름을 중심으로 단원 구성 전략을 분석하여 설명한다. 이 글에서 참고한 모든 교재는 교육목표를 한국어 학습자의 ‘의사소통 능력 향상’에 두고 이를 달성하기 위하여 단원을 구성함에 있어서 나름대로의 전략을 갖고 있었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 그 단원 구성 전략이 본래 의도했던 효과를 나타내지 않는 경우도 있었고 실제 ‘의사소통 능력’을 향상시키는 데 보탬이 될지에 대해 의문이 생기는 경우도 있었다. 교재가 교수학습과정의 기준이 되는 중요한 요소인 것은 사실이지만, 실제 수업에서는 교사가 중요한 역할을 할 뿐 아니라 추가 교수자료들도 종종 사용되기 때문에 실제 교육 효과를 교재만을 바탕으로 판단하는 데는 한계가 있을지 모른다. 완벽한 교재는 없다. ‘의사소통 능력 향상’이 그 교재의 목표라면 이를 위한 가장 효과적인 단원 구성 전략을 연구하여 그 목표 달성을 추구할 수 있을 뿐일 것이다. This paper proposes to research the effectiveness of the primary Korean Integrated Textbooks which many Korean universities are using now by studying the strategies of the unit construction in the Textbooks. Therefore, one unit that best shows strategies on how to construct its units is selected from each of their Textbooks, its components are enumerated in order, and the unit construction strategies are analyzed and explained. All the textbooks this study deals with aim to improve Korean language learners" Communicative Competence and, to accomplish such educational objectives, have their own strategies of constructing their units. However, some of the books haven"t been showed any effect they expected to obtain through their strategies, and also there are other books that seems doubtful regarding their educational effectiveness. It is evidently true that a textbook is a pivotal element of teaching and learning process. However, since not only teachers play important roles but also additional teaching materials are often used in classrooms, there may be a limit in judging the educational effects that occur in class only by textbooks. There is no perfect textbook. If it sets its goal on "Improving Communicative Competence", it merely try to accomplish the goal by finding out the most effective strategies of the unit construction.
