Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) is widely and mainly applied for the traction motor in the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) due to high efficiency, high power density and wide speed range. HEV traction motor design must correspond ultimately in fuel efficiency improvement goal of the vehicle, and that is achieved by high efficiency performance at the most frequently used area during vehicle hybrid operation control strategy. In this paper design related to increase efficiency at most frequently used area of IPMSM and to decrease whine noise when regeneration braking is presented.
