The Pre-processor program for CFD is being developed using wxWidgets and OpenGL libraries. This program can be run on both Windows and Linux operating systems. Undergraduate students and beginners can learn and use this very easily by menu and templates. Until now, structured mesh can be created in Cartesian or Cylindrical coordinates. This program will be used easily to make various type of meshes using templates.

The performance analysis of the single blade H-Darrieus wind turbine was performed. The variation of the torque coefficient with respect to the several basic parameters, such as the number of inner iterations, the periodicity for the number of revolutions, time interval, and the number of meshes on blade surface, were investigated and determined to appropriate values. Turbulence models, Realizable k-ϵ model with or without Enhanced Wall Treatement, were used in this study but showed considerable different results. The power coefficient for the change of the tip speed ratio was obtained and compared with other’s results and the similar results were obtained.

The flow simulation for the kitchen range hood with rotating swirler was performed. For some angles and heights of the hood cover are considered as important variables. Though the rotating swirler is a good device for local ventilation, but so many researches to enhance the performances are needed until now. The mixing region of exhaust gases in the kitchen is enlarged successfully, but some exhaust gases flow out into the living room. Therefore preventing these disadvantages more studies about the exhaust gas flow should be continued. In this study, modifications of an angle and a height of hood case give positive effects for the performances and the attachment of cylindrical baffle on the hood case can prevent the flow from going out into the living room.
