        A semi-active suspension system with a damper having variable damping characteristics was simulated to verify the performance of the controller in real time. A simulator using the AD-RTS had been built. Which composed of four parts: (1) RTS(Real Tims Station) to simulate software models including the 17-DOF vehicle model and process data. (2) HP host to interface between user and RTS. (3) Interfacing box to connect the virtual(software) world with the real(hardware. user) one. (4) ECU. The hardware to control the damper. It took less than 1.5ms to perform one cycle simulation. Which is enough for the vehicle model to be simulated in real time.<br/> Several results of simulation showed that the ECU did not work correctly according to the control logic. Succeeding simulation after modification of the ECU presented acceptable results.<br/>

      • 능동4륜조향장치의 이상상태 발생시 차량거동에 관한 연구

        The failure of the 4WS (Four-Wheel-Steering) system is a very important problem in the 4WS vehicle because it might give a fatal injury to the driver. If the 4WS system fails, the vehicle would be so uncontrollable that there is a great possibility of a serious accident. So, the failure of the 4WS system is critical to the vehicle. There are two steps in preventing an accident caused by the failure. The first step is perceiving whether the failure happens or not, and the second is doing something properly not to happen an accident. In this paper, the methods of perceiving some failures and avoiding the accident of the vehicle are proposed assuming that the ECU of the system is operating normally.<br/> The simulation with MATRLXx is performed to verify the method of perceiving the failure, and the simulation with ADAMS to find the most appropriate way of avoiding the accident using full vehicle model.<br/> <br/>

      • 멀티링크 현가장치의 선회 복원성 향상에 관한 연구

        In this paper, we discuss the design parameters concerned with self-aligning characteristics in the multi-link suspension system during cornering maneuver. We show that the self-aligning mechanism, which is mainly governed by kingpin offset, of the multi-link suspension system is some what different from that of the conventional one. In conventional system which has the fixed kingpin axis, caster trail is the design parameter to adjust kingpin offset, but we can not use caster trail exclusively to set kingpin offset because it is related to generate lateral tire force as well as longitudinal one. We introduce another design parameter to set kingpin offset independently in the multi-link system which has the moving kingpin axis.<br/> The results of computer simulation using a ADAMS half car quasi-static model with compliance show that we are able to control kingpin offset independently by the design parameter introduced above. Also, the results of another ADAMS simulation using the model for the car under mass production show that we can modify the multi-link suspension system in order to improve self-aligning characteristics while all other characteristics keep nearly the same as they were.<br/>
