Speckle photography is a very useful method for measuring in-plane surface displacement. In its basic form,the object to be studied is illuminated with a divergent laser beam, and a double exposure photograph of the object is recorded, on a fine-grain film or plate,before and after the object is deformed, The magnitude and the direction of the displacement can then be obtained by measuring the spacing and the direction of the Young's fringe, which is produced by probing the developed negative with an unexpaned laser beam, and consists of a pattern of parallel equi-spaced dark bands. In this paper, a hybrid optical and electronic image processing is described. Young's fringe on the viewing screen is observed by a TV-camera and the 2-D video signal is converted from analog to digital and transfered to the computer where the spacing and direction of the fringes are calculated. Several examples of application show that the displacement magnitude and direction can be determined with an accuracy of 0.1μm and 0.1˚, respectively.

Acoustic Emission is not only expected as a non-destructive evaluation technique in practice but also noted as a new powerful means of evaluation of materials. AE occurs with plastic deformation and propagation of crack, and this patterns of occurence of AE vary with materials. AE which comes from propagation of crack depends on the shapes and properties of materials. Like this AE has characteristic of material. The present work is an attempt to evaluate characteristics of carbon steel(SM55C)and Die steel(SKD11)by means of dynamic response of AE method.

When we use the strain gauge in the high temperature water, lowering of insulation resistance between test material and gauge is the matter. The lowering makes the measurement unstable and is the primary factor of an error. This study devises the waterproofing method in empirically that has the best insulating property in the hot water(100℃). In this way, we can reach the conclusion that on the condition of a few hours we can measure presure precisely in the high temperature like normal temperature.

In recent years the acoustic emission technique has been increasingly applied for detecting flows and cracks in materials either under testing or in service It is important that what is the origin of AE signals detected by AE transducers. The purpose of this paper is to detect AE source on ductile material such as pressure vessel steel, A533B. As the results of experimentation, the increase of AE events number is proportional to the increase of the volume of plain strain zone. The origion of AE signals is fracture of MnS inclusions which have small amplitude of AE waves.
