뇌내 해마의 장기강화(LTP) 현상에 대한 이해와 교육적 시사점

Education is based on memories, and the studies and discussions on memories are related to explain the foundation of educational activities. With the development of studies on brain science, the effect of brain science interpretation is recently larger. In particular, as one of important mechanisms to create long term memories, long term potentiation (LTP) in hippocampus is highlighted. This study is conducted to look into brain science findings about LTP of hippocampus and interpret educational perspectives to find meaningful implications for the long term creation process. The brain science study results about memories aim to contribute to perceiving the possibility that can be more meaningfully discussed in the educational context. LTP of hippocampus means that as strong signals are repeatedly delivered to synapse that is a connection place between nerve cells, information delivery efficiency gets higher through synapse over very long time and long term memories are formed. Such LTP shows three characteristics such as cooperation that it occurs on simultaneous stimuli through connected various channels of synapse more efficiently than a single channel of synapse stimuli, specialty that it only occurs on specific synapse channels related to stimuli, and connection with positive emotional responses. Based on the three characteristics above, this study suggests educational implications as follows. First, it is the importance of providing of structuralized information for cooperative stimuli, second the importance of using proper emotional stimuli related to educational contents, and third, it is the importance of enhancing positive mind. The educational implications are meaningful to promote the process of creating learners` long term memories about valuable educational contents efficiently.
