This paper presents dynamics of register error on a compensator roll type converting machine. Though a register control is an important aspect of a converting machine, it has not been taken into account as a main subject. Lately, demands for high speed converting machines over 500mpm(m/min) are raising but domestic converting industries can not come up with the high speed machines because capacities for designing of the converting machine is restricted lower than 300mpm. Moreover register control is the key to product flexible displays through roll-to-roll systems. In this paper, a compensator roll type register controller is analyzed using mathematical model of register error. A case study for reducing transient register errors is discussed.

Recently, it is concentrated on productivity improvement in high speed operation by converting industries. Register error is becoming the one of the most issued problem. Moreover register control is the key to product flexible displays through roll-to-roll systems. This paper presents a derivation of register error modeling. And the dynamics of register error is simulated under various conditions. Register error is affected by both roll velocity and tension between the front and back span. And dynamics of register error is to be an interaction in succeeding spans.

Roll-to-roll systems are taken notice as manufacturing process of flexible display which is expected to next generation display. These systems could be used in converting systems. Register error is the one of the most important problem in roll-to-roll flexible display systems. So, the technique of register control must be researched and developed steadily. This paper presents a mathematical model of register error. And the dynamics of register error is simulated under various conditions. Register error is affected by both roll velocity and tension between the front and back span. And the induced register error in arbitrary span generates another register error in next span.

An electro-mechanical actuator is increasingly applied for the active roll control system to improve fuel efficiency and to simplify system configurations. The electric active roll control system (eABC System) has an advantage of rapid response, but it needs gear box with high reduction ratio to generate high torque for vehicle roll attitude control. This reduction gear amplifies the effect of friction and rotating inertia when the actuator rotates, and it influences negative effect on riding performance. The paper introduces some arrangements of motor and gears of the actuator for eARC system, and proposes the optimized actuator structure to improve ride feeling by estimating dynamic characteristics of each arrangement through simulating the dynamic model of the system.

Lately flexible display have been focused on as the next leading product expecting a huge marketplace by display producers and at the same time the demands for reducing unit cost make the roll-to-roll process be adapted to the display production. Register control is an important aspect of a roll-to-roll flexible display but it has not been taken into account as a main subject. Also register control is used in high speed converting machine. In this paper, a compensator roll type register controller is analyzed using mathematical model of register error. A case study for reducing transient register errors is conducted. By this case study, it is supposed that register error is affected by tension disturbance and the control input reducing the transient tension disturbance makes register error decreased.
