        숫자 상징을 활용한 한국 문화 교육 연구

        한국 문화를 집약적으로 나타내는 상징은 문화 교육에서 효과적으로 활용될 수 있다. 한국인의 사상과 정서가 함축되어 있는 상징을 통해 한국의 정체성을 이해할 수있기 때문이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 광범위한 상징체계 중에서 숫자 상징을 중심으로한국 문화 교육에 활용할 수 있는 상징 교육 내용을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해 한국어 교재에 숫자 상징을 활용할 수 있는 부분들이 어떻게 제시되어 있는지 분석하고,한국 문화 이해에 실제적인 도움을 줄 수 있는 숫자 상징 교육 내용을 신화, 민속,금기, 한국어 표현의 4개 범주로 구분하여 정리하고자 하였다.이를 통해 추상적인 상징이 아닌 우리 일상생활에서 작용하고 있는 구체적인 숫자상징의 의미를 파악할 수 있으며, 이는 한국어 교사와 외국인 학습자 사이의 문화 간의사소통 및 서로 다른 문화적 배경을 가진 학습자들 사이의 문화 간 의사소통에 효과적으로 활용될 수 있다. Through the process, it is possible to understand the meanings of specific numerical symbols that are present in our daily lives, rather than regarding them as abstract symbols. The symbols can be efficiently utilized for cultural communication between Korean teachers and foreign learners, and between learners with different cultural backgrounds. A symbol that intensively shows Korean culture can be applied efficiently to cultural education. This is because Korean identity can be understood by means of symbols that represent Korean thoughts and emotions. Therefore, this study intends to examine the contents of symbol education applicable to Korean culture education, centering on numerical symbols amid far-reaching symbol systems.For this purpose, this study analyzed how the application of numerical symbols is presented in Korean textbooks, with the intent to organize the symbols into 4 categories of myth, folklore, taboo, and idiomatic expressions, which might be actually helpful for understanding Korean culture.

        Study on Energy Balance at the Operating Points of Staged Combustion Cycle LRE

        In the present research, liquid rocket engine (LRE) balancing was performed at the design and the off-design points to confirm the characteristics for a 9-tonf staged combustion cycle LRE whose propellant consists of LOx/kerosene. When an LRE is designed, basic specifications, such as combustion pressure and O/F ratio, are predetermined and the corresponding balancing values are decided. Nevertheless, an engine may run over a nominal point in actual operation. Thrust control valve (THCV) and O/F ratio control valve (OFCV) are activated to adjust the engine status in real operation whenever an engine runs out of the design point. The engine power balancing requires thermophysical properties of the LOx and the kerosene for the combustion process and those were adopted from the CEA, which is an open-source code written by NASA. Also, MATLAB was employed and symbolic generation and numeric calculation was proposed to help set up the governing system and to reduce computational load. The off-design points were suggested to be set at ± 7%, ± 5%, ± 3% variance range from the nominal combustion pressure and the O/F ratio. It has been derived from the results that the required power of the pump was greatest at OD3 while least at OD1. If the combustion pressure is higher than DP, the THCV pressure difference should be set lower than DP. If the O/F ratio is higher than DP, the OFCV pressure difference should be set higher than DP. When the combustion pressure is over 100 bar, the TIT is over 700 K. It should be taken carefully in this section for turbine safety.

        LEONHARD EULER (1707-1783) AND THE COMPUTATIONAL ASPECTS OF SOME ZETA-FUNCTION SERIES

        In this presentation dedicated to the tricentennial birth anniversary of the great eighteenth-century Swiss mathematician, Leonhard Euler (1707-1783), we begin by remarking about the so-called Basler problem of evaluating the Zeta function ${\zeta}(s)$ [in the much later notation of Georg Friedrich Bernhard Riemann (1826-1866)] when s=2, which was then of vital importance to Euler and to many other contemporary mathematicians including especially the Bernoulli brothers [Jakob Bernoulli (1654-1705) and Johann Bernoulli (1667-1748)], and for which a fascinatingly large number of seemingly independent solutions have appeared in the mathematical literature ever since Euler first solved this problem in the year 1736. We then investigate various recent developments on the evaluations and representations of ${\zeta}(s)$ when $s{\in}{\mathbb{N}}{\backslash}\;[1],\;{\mathbb{N}}$ being the set of natural numbers. We emphasize upon several interesting classes of rapidly convergent series representations for ${\zeta}(2n+1)(n{\in}{\mathbb{N}})$ which have been developed in recent years. In two of many computationally useful special cases considered here, it is observed that ${\zeta}(3)$ can be represented by means of series which converge much more rapidly than that in Euler's celebrated formula as well as the series used recently by Roger $Ap\'{e}ry$ (1916-1994) in his proof of the irrationality of ${\zeta}(3)$. Symbolic and numerical computations using Mathematica (Version 4.0) for Linux show, among other things, that only 50 terms of one of these series are capable of producing an accuracy of seven decimal places.
