Structural and Functional Relationships in Glaucoma Using Standard Automated Perimetry and the Humphrey Matrix

        Seong Bae Park,Yoon Pyo Nam,Kyung Rim Sung,Michael S. Kook 대한안과학회 2009 Korean Journal of Ophthalmology Vol.23 No.3

Purpose: To evaluate and compare correlations between structural and functional loss in glaucoma as assessed by optical coherence tomography (OCT), scanning laser polarimetry (GDx VCC, as this was the model used in this study), standard automated perimetry (SAP), and the Humphrey Matrix (Matrix). Methods: Ninety glaucomatous eyes identified with SAP and 112 eyes diagnosed using Matrix were independently classified into six subgroups, either S1/M1 (MD>-6dB), S2/M2 (-12<MD<-6dB) or S3/M3 (MD<-12dB), according to the mean deviation (MD) of each test. Average and sectoral retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness and percentage of abnormal classifications using the internal normative databases of OCT and GDx VCC were compared among the six subgroups. Results: In the SAP subgroups, RNFL thickness values obtained by OCT in the nasal and temporal quadrants and the inferior averages of GDx VCC did not differ between the S1 and S2 subgroups (p=0.137, 0.738 and 0.149, respectively). In the Matrix subgroups, no measurement parameters differed between the M1 and M2 groups except for the overall mean and average inferior RNFL thickness given by OCT and the NFI values of GDx VCC (p=0.013, 0.016 and 0.029, respectively). When abnormal classifications were compared, all measurement parameters, without exception, were significantly different in both the SAP and the Matrix subgroups. Conclusions: SAP subgroups showed a good correlation of structural and functional defects when assessed using OCT and GDx VCC. These correlations were weaker in the Matrix subgroups, especially in the early stages of glaucoma. Korean J Ophthalmol 2009;23:176-182

복원화소의 신뢰도 기반 가중 평균 필터를 활용한 Salt-and-Pepper 잡음 제거 알고리즘

        김동형 (사)디지털산업정보학회 2021 디지털산업정보학회논문지 Vol.17 No.2

Salt and pepper is a type of impulse noise. It may appear due to an error in the image transmission process and image storage memory. This noise changes the pixel value at any position in the image to 0 (in case of pepper noise) or 255 (in case of salt noise). In this paper, we present an algorithm for SAP noise reduction. The proposed method consists of three steps. In the first step, the location of the SAP noise is detected, and in the second step, the pixel value of the detected location is restored using a weighted average of the surrounding pixel values. In the last step, a reliability matrix around the reconstructed pixels is constructed, and additional correction is performed with a weighted average using this. As a result of the experiment, the proposed method appears to have similar or higher objective and subjective image quality than previous methods for almost all SAP noise ratios.

        Pyroprocess Experiments at ENEA Laboratories

        Giorgio DE ANGELIS,Elio BAICCHI,Mauro CAPONE,Carlo FEDELI,Massimo SEPIELLI,Giuliano TIRANTI,Mirko DA ROS,Francesca GIACOBBO,Marco GIOLA,Elena MACERATA,Mario MARIANI 한국방사성폐기물학회 2015 방사성폐기물학회지 Vol.13 No.S

A new facility, known as Pyrel III, has been installed at ENEA laboratories for pyrochemical process studies under inactive conditions. It is a pilot plant which allows electrorefining and electroreduction experiments to be conducted on simulated fuel. The main component of the plant is a zirconia crucible. The crucible is heated by a furnace which is supported in an externally water-cooled well under the floor of a steel glove-box, where an argon atmosphere is maintained by a continual purge of about 10 L·min-1. The vessel is loaded with LiCl-KCl eutectic salt (59-41 mol%) and is currently operated at 460 °C. Several improvements on Pyrel II (the previous operating plant) have been introduced into Pyrel III. They are described in detail, together with the results from the first experimental campaign which used lanthanum metal. Moreover, studies about the treatment of chloride salt wastes from pyroprocesses have been conducted in parallel. They follow two main routes: on one hand, a matrix termed sodalite, a naturally occurring mineral containing chlorine, has been synthesized from a mix of nepheline, simulated exhausted salts and glass frit; on the other hand, a novel method proposed by Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) is under assessment. The final waste forms have been fully characterized with the support of the Politechnique of Milan, by means of density measurements, thermal analysis, and stereomicroscopy observations, FTIR, XRD, and RAMAN spectra, as well as leach tests under static conditions.
