최근 기후 변화와 관련하여 적조(HABs, Harmful Algal Blooms) 현상이 빈번하게 발생하며 과도하게 많은 양의 미생물 및 조류로부터 생산된 물질이 연안 산업에 심각한 문제를 일으키고 있다. 특히, 여름철 유해 조류의 대량번식 과정에서 발생되는 독성과 점액질이 양식어장에 유입되면서 해수의 용존 산소량을 낮추고 물고기의 아가미에 부착되어 산소 교환 용량을 감소시켜 집단폐사를 야기한다. 본 연구에서는 남해안의 적조에 의한 양식어장의 리스크관리를 위해 리스크 매핑을 수행하였다. 천리안해양관측위성(GOCI, Geostationary Ocean Color Imager) 영상을 재료로 엽록소 농도를 분석하기 위해 해양자료처리시스템(GDPS, GOCI Data Processing System)을 사용하였고, ArcGIS 10.1을 이용하여 고 엽록소 농도를 보이는 지역의 공간 분포를 분석하고 GIS 데이터베이스를 통해 양식어장의 속성 데이터를 적용하여 리스크 매핑을 수행하였다. 리스크 매핑 수행 결과 클로로필-a 농도가 높게 나타나는 연안지역과 경제적가치가 높은 양식어장을 포함한 리스크 cell에서 높은 리스크를 보였다. Recently, Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) occur frequently due to climate change. Substantial amounts of microbes and materials produced from algae are causing serious problems for the coastal industry. Toxicity and mucus from the diffusion process of HAB lower the dissolved oxygen of seawater. They enter the aquaculture and attach to the gills of the fish, reducing the oxygen exchange capacity and causing mass mortality. In this study, risk mapping was conducted to manage the risk caused by the red tide of the aquaculture farm in the South sea of Korea. GOCI data processing system (GDPS) was used to analyze the chlorophyll-a concentration using the images of the Geostationary Ocean Color Imager (GOCI). Using ArcGIS 10.1, the spatial distribution of high chlorophyll-a concentration was analyzed, risk mapping was performed by applying the attribute data of the aquaculture farm through the GIS database.
