High speed grinding characteristics and machinability of WC-10Co-4Cr coatings deposited via high velocity oxygen fuel spraying

        Zhentao Shang,Cheng Xu,Guizhi Xie,Jun Yi,Han Huang 대한기계학회 2018 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.32 No.7

Tungsten carbide cobalt coatings are widely employed for fabricating the parts used in corrosive and abrasive environments. The coatings are often deposited on substrates via high velocity oxygen fuel spraying, which are relatively hard and brittle and difficult to machine. This work systematically investigated the effect of high speed grinding conditions on the removal characteristics and machinability of WC-10Co-4Cr coatings. The wheel speed was found to have significant effect on grinding force and temperature. The subsurface damage could be considerably reduced when the grinding conditions were judiciously selected. The high speed grinding process being developed produced a satisfactory subsurface damage layer of smaller than 15 mm without spalling and large cracking that were usually observed in conventional grinding, suggesting its suitability for post-processing of the coating/substrate system.

Thermal Model for Power Converters Based on Thermal Impedance

Xu, Yang,Chen, Hao,Lv, Sen,Huang, Feifei,Hu, Zhentao The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2013 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.13 No.6

In this paper, the superposition principle of a heat sink temperature rise is verified based on the mathematical model of a plate-fin heat sink with two mounted heat sources. According to this, the distributed coupling thermal impedance matrix for a heat sink with multiple devices is present, and the equations for calculating the device transient junction temperatures are given. Then methods to extract the heat sink thermal impedance matrix and to measure the Epoxy Molding Compound (EMC) surface temperature of the power Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor (MOSFET) instead of the junction temperature or device case temperature are proposed. The new thermal impedance model for the power converters in Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) drivers is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink. The obtained simulation results are validated with experimental results. Compared with the Finite Element Method (FEM) thermal model and the traditional thermal impedance model, the proposed thermal model can provide a high simulation speed with a high accuracy. Finally, the temperature rise distributions of a power converter with two control strategies, the maximum junction temperature rise, the transient temperature rise characteristics, and the thermal coupling effect are discussed.

Influence of Relative Humidity on the Temperature Increase of a Power Converter

Xu, Yang,Chen, Hao,Hu, Zhentao,Li, Dong The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2015 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.15 No.3

As a vital part of renewable energy and electrical traction, power converters are supposed to have high reliability and good performance. However, power semiconductors produce considerable heat when the power converter works, which results in high junction temperatures that lower the reliability and performance of the power semiconductors. Many studies show that ambient humidity has a significant effect on power devices, but the influence of high humidity on junction temperatures has yet to be studied. Therefore, this paper presents a thermal model for power converters in moist air to obtain the junction temperature increase, which is utilized for the power converter used in a Switched Reluctance Motor System. Simulation results show that the law of converter temperature distribution is independent of the relative humidity in the case of fixed ambient temperature, whereas the temperature in the power converter decreases as the ambient relative humidity increases. These simulation results are validated with the experimental results.

Neuroanatomical Localization of Rapid Eye Movement Sleep Behavior Disorder in Human Brain Using Lesion Network Mapping

        Yuan Taoyang,Zuo Zhentao,Xu Jianguo 대한영상의학회 2023 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.24 No.3

Objective: To localize the neuroanatomical substrate of rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) and to investigate the neuroanatomical locational relationship between RBD and α-synucleinopathy neurodegenerative diseases. Materials and Methods: Using a systematic PubMed search, we identified 19 patients with lesions in different brain regions that caused RBD. First, lesion network mapping was applied to confirm whether the lesion locations causing RBD corresponded to a common brain network. Second, the literature-based RBD lesion network map was validated using neuroimaging findings and locations of brain pathologies at post-mortem in patients with idiopathic RBD (iRBD) who were identified by independent systematic literature search using PubMed. Finally, we assessed the locational relationship between the sites of pathological alterations at the preclinical stage in α-synucleinopathy neurodegenerative diseases and the brain network for RBD. Results: The lesion network mapping showed lesions causing RBD to be localized to a common brain network defined by connectivity to the pons (including the locus coeruleus, dorsal raphe nucleus, central superior nucleus, and ventrolateral periaqueductal gray), regardless of the lesion location. The positive regions in the pons were replicated by the neuroimaging findings in an independent group of patients with iRBD and it coincided with the reported pathological alterations at postmortem in patients with iRBD. Furthermore, all brain pathological sites at preclinical stages (Braak stages 1–2) in Parkinson’s disease (PD) and at brainstem Lewy body disease in dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) were involved in the brain network identified for RBD. Conclusion: The brain network defined by connectivity to positive pons regions might be the regulatory network loop inducing RBD in humans. In addition, our results suggested that the underlying cause of high phenoconversion rate from iRBD to neurodegenerative α-synucleinopathy might be pathological changes in the preclinical stage of α-synucleinopathy located at the regulatory network loop of RBD.
