Here we present experimental results of classification methods for brain activity in the imagination of direction. In anticipation of its adequate performance, we used a wireless portable electroencephalography (EEG) headset to collect EEG data from subjects in the experiments, during which the subjects imagined arrows indicating one of the four directions: up, down, right, and left. The classification methods estimated the direction that the subjects imagined on the basis of their brain wave signals measured by an electrode on the portable EEG headset. We implemented several classification methods, which basically followed those of a previous study that used a medical EEG device. The classification methods consisted of a band-pass filter, fast Fourier transformation, principal component analysis, and neural network. The experimental results showed that the neural network trained with the EEG data of all subjects achieved a 52.00% classification rate. When using the EEG data of each subject, the best classification rate was 55.00%. The results using the portable EEG headset were comparable with those of the previous study.
江戸後期の日本漢詩における白居易受容 : 大沼枕山ㆍ村上仏山を中心に

This paper deals with Onuma Chinzan and Murakami Butsuzan's poetry, comparing it with those of other poets before them. In the late Edo period, Chinese poets in Japan frequently quoted phrases from Bai Juyi, a poet from the Tang Dynasty and modeled pieces after his style. However Bai's poetry is intelligible but popular. Therefore some poets criticized to learn Bai's works, because some pieces are commonplace and imitative. In this condition Chinzan and Butsuzan composed many poems in the style of Bai Juyi. They often used the form of ‘old-style’ poetry, and made up long verses under the influence of Bai Juyi's narrative poems, e.g.‘ Piba-xing’ (?琵琶行?). Their long verses are appreciated by other poets. And the subjects of their works are based on Japanese folk tales and Japanense historical novels, e.g.Chinzan's ‘Musashino-ka’ ( ?武?野歌?), Butsuzan's ‘Kiji-ko’ (?棄?行?). Accordingly their works are not ordinary in spite of their homage to Bai Juyi.Chinzan and Butsuzan belonged to different groups of poets, one is in Edo-city, the other is in Kyushu region. However they respect each other despite long distance. It is certain that they tried to achieve a new variant of Bai Juyi's style using Japanese subject.
