An Improved Algorithm of Rough K-Means Clustering Based on Variable Weighted Distance Measure
Tengfei Zhang,Long Chen,Fumin Ma 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.7 No.6
Rough K-means algorithm has shown that it can provides a reasonable set of lower and upper bounds for a given dataset. With the conceptions of the lower and upper approximate sets, rough k-means clustering and its emerging derivatives become valid algorithms in vague information clustering. However, the most available algorithms ignore the difference of the distances between data objects and cluster centers when computing new mean for each cluster. To solve this issue, an improved algorithm of rough k-means clustering based on variable weighted distance measure is presented in this article. Comparative experimental results of real world data from UCI demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm.

Terpenes have many applications and are widely found in nature, but recent progress in synthetic biology has enabled the use of microorganisms as chassis cells for the synthesis of these compounds. Candida glycerinogenes (C. glycerinogenes) is an industrial strain that may be developed as a chassis for the synthesis of terpenes since it has a tolerance to hyperosmolality and high sugar, and has a complete mevalonate (MVA) pathway. However, monoterpenes such as pinene are highly toxic, and the tolerance of C. glycerinogenes to pinene was investigated. We also measured the content of mevalonate and squalene to evaluate the strength of the MVA pathway. To determine terpene synthesis capacity, a pathway for the synthesis of pinene was constructed in C. glycerinogenes. Pinene production was improved by overexpression, gene knockdown and antisense RNA inhibition. Pinene production was mainly enhanced by strengthening the upstream MVA pathway and inhibiting the production of by-products from the downstream pathway. With these strategies, yield could be increased by almost 16 times, to 6.0 mg/L. Overall, we successfully constructed a pinene synthesis pathway in C. glycerinogenes and enhanced pinene production through metabolic modification.

This paper mainly studies the stress and strain characteristics of electric vehicle cables under tensile state and its influence law on the electromagnetic characteristics. Firstly, the structure and characteristics of new energy vehicle cables are analyzed, and the three-dimensional solid model of the cables is established. The finite element method is used to analyze the deformation law and stress change characteristics of cables under diff erent tensile load conditions, so as to achieve the resistance change law of cables. Then the equivalent modeling method is established to simulate the electromagnetic characteristics of the cable. It is found that the tensile deformation increases the electromagnetic field intensity of some parts of the cable, leading to the irregular distribution of electromagnetic field in the entire cable. Finally, the variation law of electromagnetic field during the cable deformation is summarized.

Heptadecanoic acid (C17:0), an odd-chain saturated fatty acid (OCSFA) in ruminant lipid, has been demonstrated to be potential for treating cancers. Our results also showed that sheep tail fat (STF) with higher level of C17:0-containing saturated fatty acids (SFAs) whereas lower level of oleic acid (C18:1), performed remarkable inhibition against non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. To enrich the content of C17:0, a C17:0-rich SFA concentrate (HRSC) was prepared from STF by solvent crystallization and urea complexation methods (hexane/STF = 3.5/1, 4 °C for 8 h, and 80% ethanol/urea/free fatty acids = 8/1/1, 4 °C for 6 h). The content of C17:0 was up from 3.02 to 6.34% and the recovery was 4.17%. Biological experiments showed that HRSC exerted better antiproliferative effect against NSCLC cells. Moreover, HRSC performed enhanced inhibitory effect in A549 cell xenograft mouse model. Therefore, HRSC has the potential to be applied in adjuvant therapy for NSCLC.

Understanding soybean (Glycine max) domestication and improvement at a genetic level is important to inform future efforts to further improve a crop that provides the world's main source of oilseed. We detect 230 selective sweeps and 162 selected copy number variants by analysis of 302 resequenced wild, landrace and improved soybean accessions at >11× depth. A genome-wide association study using these new sequences reveals associations between 10 selected regions and 9 domestication or improvement traits, and identifies 13 previously uncharacterized loci for agronomic traits including oil content, plant height and pubescence form. Combined with previous quantitative trait loci (QTL) information, we find that, of the 230 selected regions, 96 correlate with reported oil QTLs and 21 contain fatty acid biosynthesis genes. Moreover, we observe that some traits and loci are associated with geographical regions, which shows that soybean populations are structured geographically. This study provides resources for genomics-enabled improvements in soybean breeding.
