A Concept on The Optimization of The Energy Efficiency in Forging Process Chains

In the industrial production stages, the planners usually focus on the criteria like component quality, costs and production time. However, it is necessary to consider not only the variation of process parameters to reduce the consumption significantly, but also the energy consumption of the process chains. This includes the optimal coordination among the different process elements of the whole process chain. Based on this background, a developed concept on the optimization of the energy consumption of a forging process chain is proposed by adapting its energetic relevant parameters. The concept, at first, defines the variation intervals for the energy which is the most significant parameters of a forging process chain. Then, the results of the technical modifications will be evaluated energetically. To enable the holistic optimization of the process chain, the stage including the use of a simulation model of a 4-cylinder-crankshaft process chain is applied. In order to reduce the energy consumption, the three parameter variations: “forging temperature reduction”, “raw part volume reduction” and “forging time reduction” are identified successfully.
