Dielectric Study of Allyl Chloride with 2-Pentanone and 2-Hexanone in Microwave Frequency Range
Sudake, Yuvraj,Kamble, Siddharth,Maharolkar, Aruna,Patil, Sunil,Khirade, Prakash,Mehrotra, Suresh Korean Chemical Society 2012 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.33 No.10
Dielectric measurement on binary mixtures of Allyl chloride (ALC) with 2-Pentanone (2-PE) and 2-Hexanone (2-HE) has been carried out over the entire concentration range using Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) technique at various temperatures in microwave frequency range of 10 MHz to 10 GHz. The static dielectric constant, excess static dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}^E_S$), effective Kirkwood correlation factor ($g^{eff}$) of binary mixtures over entire concentration range were determined to study the effect of increasing alkyl group of ketones on hetero molecular interaction. It was found that magnitude of excess static dielectric constant of mixtures increases with increase of alky group of ketones. The study reveals that the dipole moment of Allyl chloride in mixture have antiparallelism tendency where as 2-pentanone and 2-hexanone have parallelism tendency. Excess static dielectric constant is also fitted to Redlich-Kister equation to get information about rates of multimers formation.

Complex permittivity spectra of Allyl Chloride (AC), 2-Butanone (2-BU) and their binary mixtures over the entire range of concentration were obtained using the Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) technique in microwave frequency range at various temperatures. Static dielectric constant and relaxation time are obtained from complex permittivity spectra. Density ($\rho$) and refractive index ($n_D$) are also measured. These parameters are used to determine excess dielectric constant, excess inverse relaxation time, excess molar volume, excess molar refraction, polarity, Bruggeman factor and thermodynamic parameters viz. enthalpy of activation and entropy of activation. The values of static dielectric constant and relaxation time increases while density and refractive index decreases with the percentage of 2-Butanone in Allyl Chloride increases. Excess parameters were fitted to a Redlich-Kister equation.

The present paper reports the study of binary mixtures and their properties over the entire range of composition at temperatures 288, 298, 308 and 318 K. Excess dielectric constant, excess molar volume, excess refractive index, molar refraction and excess molar refraction at different temperatures have been computed from the experimentally measured values of the aforesaid parameters and fitted to the Redlich-Kister equation. Excess dielectric constant, excess molar volume excess molar polarizations are negative whereas excess refractive indices are positive over entire mole fraction of methyl acetate for all temperatures. The results are discussed in light of intermolecular interactions occurring in the binary mixture. Estimated coefficients of the Redlich-Kister polynomials and the standard error along the coefficients are also reported.

Purpose Optimal bone remodeling is responsible for bonehealth and strength, and an imbalance in this process maycause diseases such as osteoporosis. Both osteocyte densityand mechanosensitivity are effective parameters in changingbone apparent density. This study aimed at investigating theeffects of osteocyte density in healthy adults, and osteocytemechanosensitivity in osteoporotic bones, on bone loss usinga semi-mechanistic bone remodeling theory. Methods A 2-D finite element model of trabecular bone wasdeveloped in order to simulate the process of boneremodeling. The structure was loaded by a sinusoidal stress, cycling between 0 and 2 MPa, and at frequency of 1 Hz. Itwas assumed that the stimulus sensed by osteocytes is themaximal strain energy density rate. By changing osteocytedensity and mechanosensitivity, the effects of alteringexternal load magnitude and/or direction were investigated. Results First, trabecular-like structures were obtained fromthe initial configuration, in which trabeculae were lined upwith the loading direction as verification of model’simplementation. Secondly, it was demonstrated that boneloss could occur in healthy older trabecular bone model, compared to healthy young bone model. Finally, this in silicostudy showed that by decreasing osteocyte mechanosensitivity, assuming a constant osteocyte density, a decrease in boneapparent density is predicted. Conclusions Results of this work indicated that the semimechanisticmodel used here may reasonably explain boneloss in healthy adults and in osteoporotic patients. Moreover, this study sheds more light on the possible effects that osteocytedensity in healthy adults, and osteocyte mechanosensitivityin osteoporotic individuals, may have on bone apparentdensity predictions.
