        Home appliance load disaggregation using cepstrum-smoothing-based method

        <P>Various load disaggregation methods have been developed for monitoring home appliance loads to save energy in a smart home. Most of load disaggregation methods are designed to focus on the on/off events of single appliance. In reality, however, multiple appliances can be turned on/off simultaneously. Load disaggregation can be complicated by the simultaneous on/off events of multiple appliances. This paper presents a cepstrum-smoothing-based load disaggregation method to effectively deal with the simultaneous on/off events of multiple appliances. Further, a data acquisition system is developed to obtain only the characteristic signals of appliances and to filter the noise inputted from the power supply. Test results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed cepstrumsmoothing- based load disaggregation method<SUP>1</SUP>.</P>

        Stochastic Charging Coordination Method for Electric Vehicle (EV) Aggregator Considering Uncertainty in EV Departures

        <P>This paper presents a stochastic method for an electric vehicle (EV) aggregator to coordinate EV charging schedule considering uncertainty in EV departures. The EV aggregator is responsible for managing the charging schedule of EVs while participating in the electricity markets. The managed EV charging can provide additional revenues to the aggregator from regulation market participation and charging cost reductions to EV owners. The aggregator needs to coordinate the charging schedule considering various uncertain factors such as electricity market prices and the stochastic characteristics of EVs. In this paper, the EV charging scheduling problem incorporating uncertainty in EV departures is formulated as a stochastic optimization problem. A stochastic optimization method is used to solve the EV charging scheduling problem. Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) and a scenario-reduction method are also applied to reduce the computational efforts of the proposed method. The results of a numerical example are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed stochastic EV charging coordination method.</P>

        Increasing peak load is one of the major concerns about operation of urban railroad systems. Since ESSs (Energy Storage Systems) have a great potential for shaving the peak load, there has been a growing interest in the use of ESS for peak load reduction. Also, ESS can be optimally scheduled to minimize the electricity purchasing cost under a given ToU (Time-of-Use) tariff by taking advantage of electricity price difference between peak and off-peak time. This paper presents a Mixed Integer Programming (MIP)-based ESS scheduling method to minimize the electricity purchasing cost under a ToU tariff for an urban railroad system.

        Impedance Selection of a Fault Current Limiting Superconducting Cable Under Fault Conditions in a Power System From a System Protection Perspective

        <P>Superconducting cables can be used as an alternative to replace the conventional ac cables in a power system. Because of the characteristics of superconducting cables, their installation in a power system can influence the fault current levels and patterns. These changes in fault current levels and patterns can further have an impact on power system protection. Therefore, in order to prevent resulting problems, there is an increasing need to analyze the impact of a superconducting cable on the power system and determine its impedance under fault conditions. This paper presents a systematic impedance selection method for a superconducting cable under fault conditions, based on the evaluation results of the impact of superconducting cables on power system protection. Numerical simulations are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.</P>

        종합격투기체육관 서비스스케이프가 수련생 감정반응, 수련생만족 및 행동의도에 미치는 영향

        이 연구는 2015년 현재 서울·경기지역에 위치하고 있는 종합격투기체육관 수련생을 대상으로 종합격투기체육관에서 제공하는 서비스스케이프가 수련생의 감정반응, 만족 및 그들의 행동의도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 각 종합격투기체육관별로 설문을 안배하여 유의표본추출법을 이용하여 311명의 자료를 사용하였다. 자료처리는 SPSS 18.0 프로그램을 이용하여 빈도분석, 요인분석, 상관분석, 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 이상과 같은 연구방법 및 절차를 통하여 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 서비스스케이프의 하위변인인 심미성, 공간배치, 편의성, 주변요소 등 모든 변인에서 수련생 감정반응의 하위변인인 긍정적 반응에 유의한 영향을 미치며, 편의성에서 부정적 반응에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 서비스스케이프의 하위변인인 심미성, 공간배치에서 수련생만족에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 서비스스케이프의 하위변인인 심미성, 공간배치, 주변요소에서 행동의도의 하위변인이 재구매의도에 유의한 영향을 미치며, 심미성, 공간배치, 편의성에서 추천의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 수련생 감정반응의 하위변인인 긍정적 반응에서 수련생만족에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 수련생 감정반응의 하위변인인 긍정적 반응과 부정적 반응 모두에서 행동의도의 하위변인인 재구매의도와 추천의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 여섯째, 수련생만족은 행동의도의 하위변인인 재구매의도와 추천의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. This study examined the effect of mixed martial arts gym servicescape on trainee``s emotional response, satisfaction, and action intention. The research was made with 311 trainees from Seoul, and Gyeonggi province. Survey data were collected through survey questionnaires using purposive sampling method and were processed by means of frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis using SPSS 18.0 program. The results of this study based on above methods and procedures were as followings. First, esthetics factor, space arrangement, convenience, facilities all sub factors of servicescape had significant influence on positive response sub factor of emotional response. However, convenience had significant influence on negative response. Second, esthetics factor, and space arrangement sub factors of servicescape had significant influence on positive response sub factor of emotional response. Third, esthetics factor, space arrangement, and facilities sub factors of servicescape had significant influence on repurchase intention. Meanwhile, esthetics factor, space arrangement, and convenience had significant influence on recommendation intention. Forth, positive response sub factor of emotional response had significant influence on trainees`` satisfaction. Fifth, positive response and negative response sub factors of emotional response had significant influence on repurchase and recommendation intention sub factors of action intention. Sixth, trainees``s satisfaction had significant influence on repurchase and recommendation intention sub factors of action intention.

        Demand-Side Management Program Planning Using Stochastic Load Forecasting with Extreme Value Theory

        <P>Demand-side management (DSM) is easy to apply to reduce system peak load by a utility and it can be a convenient way to control and change amount of electric usage by end-use customers. Planning and operating techniques for a DSM program are required to efficiently manage and operate the program. This paper is focused on planning technique for an incentive-based DSM program. This paper describes a stochastic model that can estimate the operating days, hours, and total capacity for efficiently planning a DSM program. A temperature stochastic process, from weather derivatives, is used in the proposed method. Temperature sensitivity is proposed to improve load forecasting accuracy. The generalized extreme value distribution is also proposed for estimating stochastic results. The results of case studies are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.</P>
