Relationship Between Innovation Activities and Business Performance: A Case Study in Indonesia
Muhammad Ridwan ARIF,Dahsan HASAN 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.4
The study aims to investigate the relationship between innovation activities and business process performance in higher education institution (hereinafter referred to as “HEI”) context. The data was collected using a survey and later analyzed through Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLSSEM) and SmartPLS software. A total of 50 questionnaires were submitted from respondents representing vocational study program management located in Makassar, Indonesia. The findings show that two hypotheses discussed in this study fit the empirical data. Specifically, the results show that there is a positive relationship between innovation activities and business process performance, involving two types of innovation activities, which are exploration activities and exploitation activities, within HEIs. Explorative activity is firmly related to exploitative activity, which furthermore links to business process performance within the HEIs observed. The results confirm that exploration activity can stimulate and lead the HEIs management to generate exploitation activity. For instance, capabilities to absorb knowledge from the external institution may lead this institution to generate advanced academic processes, as well as more efficient and effective managerial processes. The study also signifies ambidexterity capacity, suggesting that it may lead HEIs management to formulate proper strategies in achieving better performance and gaining competitive advantage.

In this work, we describe the effect of pulse anodizing duty ratio on the corrosion resistance of anodic films in magnesium AZ31B. The process involves the application of square pulse potential for a constant period with a duty ratio varying from 40, 60 and 80%. In several samples, a sealing treatment for 30 minutes was conducted after anodization in order to seal the pores available in the anodic layer. After anodizing, the surface morphology of the anodic layer was examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM Hitachi SU3500). The corrosion characteristics of the sample were evaluated through an open circuit potential (OCP) and potentiodynamic polarization test using potentiogalvanostat. SEM observation shows that the increase of anodization duty ratio (α) results in a more uniform anodic layer, with fewer pores and cracks. The increase of duty ratio (α) decreases the OCP value from approximately -1.475 to about -1.6 Volt, and significantly improves the corrosion resistance of the anodic coating by 68%. The combination of anodization and sealing treatment produces an anodic coating with a very low corrosion rate of 4.4 mpy.

One of approaches to maintain the yield stability of the lowland tropical wheat is the use of secondary traits in theselection process. The identification of these characters requires a statistical approach in the form of genetic parameter analysis andmultivariate analysis. The objective of this study was to determine the secondary traits of adaptive wheat mutants in the lowlandsthrough the use of genetic parameters and multivariate analysis on the parameters. The study consisted of three field trials conducted inthree different regencies, namely Jeneponto (135 m above sea level (asl)), Maros (100 m asl) and Bantaeng (125 m asl). The study useda nested design, where replications were nested in the environments. The genotype factors consisted of 20 genotypes repeated threetimes. 11 characters were observed including vegetative and reproductive characters. The analysis used consisted of repeatability, correlation, cluster analysis, principal component analysis, factor analysis, and cross print analysis. The overall results of the analysisindicate that the number of productive tillers is the main secondary trait for the selection of adaptive wheat in the lowlands. Thecharacter can be recommended for selection criteria in testing wheat lines in the lowlands to make an effective selection.
