      • XRCC1 Gene Polymorphisms and Breast Cancer Risk: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis Study

        Breast cancer risk assessment has developed during years and evaluation of genetic factor affecting risk of breast cancer is an important component of this risk assessment. The aim of this meta-analysis was to investigate the role of XRCC1 polymorphisms (Arg194Trp, Arg280His and Arg399Gln) in risk of breast cancer among different population and categories of menopausal status.PubMed, Medline, Web of Science, and PubMed Central were systematically searched to identify studies evaluating association between breast cancer and XRCC1 gene polymorphisms (Arg194Trp, Arg280His and Arg399Gln). Two authors independently extracted required information. Odds Ratios were pooled for four genetic inheritance models using both fixed and the DerSimonian and Laird random-effect models. Egger's test and contour-enhanced funnel plot was used to evaluate publication bias and small study effect. Additional subgroup analysis was performed for menopausal status, ethnicity, and source of controls. After evaluation and applying inclusion criteria on extracted studies, fifty three studies were included in this meta-analysis. For polymorphisms of Arg194Trp and Arg280His, no significant association was observed in all genetic models. Arg194Trp had a protective effect in post-menopausal status only in homozygote model (OR=0.57 [0.37-0.88]). Arg399Gln showed significant association with breast cancer in homozygote (OR=1.21 [1.10-1.34]), dominant (OR=1.09 [1.03-1.15]) and recessive (OR=1.21 [1.09- 1.35]) genetic models. Arg399Gln was associated with higher risk in post-menopausal status for homozygote and heterozygote models. Our findings suggest that XRCC1 gene polymorphisms modify breast cancer risk in different populations and different categories of menopausal status.

      • Analysis of offshore pipeline laid on 3D seabed configuration by Abaqus

        Three dimensional (3D) non-linear finite element analysis of offshore pipeline is investigated in this work with the help of general purpose software Abaqus. The general algorithm for the finite element approach is introduced. The 3D seabed mesh, limited to a corridor along the pipeline, is extracted from survey data via Fledermous software. Moreover soil bearing capacity and coefficient of frictions, obtained from the field survey report, and are introduced into the finite element model through the interaction module. For a case of study, a 32inch pipeline with API 5L X65 material grade subjected to high pressure and high temperature loading is investigated in more details.

        NON-ABELIAN TENSOR ANALOGUES OF 2-AUTO ENGEL GROUPS

        The concept of tensor analogues of right 2-Engel elements in groups were defined and studied by Biddle and Kappe [1] and Moravec [9]. Using the automorphisms of a given group G, we introduce the notion of tensor analogue of 2-auto Engel elements in G and investigate their properties. Also the concept of $2_{\otimes}$-auto Engel groups is introduced and we prove that if G is a $2_{\otimes}$-auto Engel group, then $G{\otimes}$ Aut(G) is abelian. Finally, we construct a non-abelian 2-auto-Engel group G so that its non-abelian tensor product by Aut(G) is abelian.

        The Combining Ability Analysis and Heterosis for some Quanitatives Traits in the Silkworm (Bombyx mori L.)

        Recently two breeding programs were carried out for isolation of new parental inbred lines in Iran. This study was undertaken in order to estimate the combining ability effects and heterosis of these lines. For this purpose an $8\times8$ diallel cross analysis including eight inbred lines of silkworm with four lines from each program were studied for their five quantitative traits. The results indicated that reciprocal effects appeared insignificant for most of traits. Japanese lines of 111 and 113 were best combiners for shell weight, cocoon weight and shell percentage traits. With respect to pupation rate, Chinese line 110 was the best and according to general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) variances, it is superior in specific combinations. Hybrid $109\times110$ showed better characters for both productive and viability traits. Hybrids with high heterosis had high SCA too.

        Optimization of ground response analysis using wavelet-based transfer function technique

        One of the most advanced classes of techniques for ground response analysis is based on the use of Transfer Functions. They represent the ratio of Fourier spectrum of amplitude motion at the free surface to the corresponding spectrum of the bedrock motion and they are applied in frequency domain usually by FFT method. However, Fourier spectrum only shows the dominant frequency in each time step and is unable to represent all frequency contents in every time step and this drawback leads to inaccurate results. In this research, this process is optimized by decomposing the input motion into different frequency sub-bands using Wavelet Multi-level Decomposition. Each component is then processed with transfer Function relating to the corresponding component frequency. Taking inverse FFT from all components, the ground motion can be recovered by summing up the results. The nonlinear behavior is approximated using an iterative procedure with nonlinear soil properties. The results of this procedure show better accuracy with respect to field observations than does the Conventional method. The proposed method can also be applied to other engineering disciplines with similar procedure.

        THE LOWER AUTOCENTRAL SERIES OF ABELIAN GROUPS

        In the present paper we introduce the lower autocentral series of autocommutator subgroups of a given group. Following our previous work on the subject in 2009, it is shown that every finite abelian group is isomorphic with $n^{th}$-term of the lower autocentral series of some finite abelian group.

        Genetic Improvement of Some Traits in Four Strains of Silkworm, Bombyx mori L.

        A breeding plan was carried out on four commercial strains of silkworm (Bombyx mori L.) 101, 102, 103 and 104 to improve some important traits. Genetic gain or response to selection $({\Delta}G)$, heritability of cocoon shell weight (CSW) and specific combining ability effects were estimated to determine the strains that can be improved. Strain 101 had lowest heritabitity, ${\Delta}G$ and viability. Strain 102 was acceptable in selection response but its viability was low. Therefore these two strains were not suitable for more selection. As a result, only lines 103 and 104 were chosen for further improvement. Intra population selection based on independent culling level method practiced from third to sixth generation for both productive and viability traits simultaneously. While CSW and CW had increasingly enhanced during primary generations, they went slightly up after third generation. According to negative genetic correlation, viability decreased during primary generations, but after third generation that paid attention to balanced development of both productive and viability traits, viability increased so that the pupation rate reached to $91\%$ in 103 and $97\%$ in 104 for last generation $(G_8)$.

      • Simplified Failure Mechanism for the Prediction of Tunnel Crown and Excavation Front Displacements

        This case study presented a simplified failure mechanism approach used as a preliminary deformation prediction for the Mexico City's metro system expansion. Because of the Mexico City's difficult subsoils, Line 12 project was considered one of the most challenging projects in Mexico. Mexico City's subsurface conditions can be described as a multilayered stratigraphy changing from soft high plastic clays to dense to very dense cemented sands. The Line 12 trajectory crossed all three main geotechnical Zones in Mexico City. Starting from to west of the City, Line 12 was projected to pass through very dense cemented sands corresponding to the Foothills zone changing to the Transition zone and finalizing in the Lake zone. Due to the change in the subsurface conditions, different constructions methods were implemented including the use of TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine), the NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method), and cut-and-cover using braced Diaphragm walls for the underground section of the project. Preliminary crown and excavation front deformations were determined using a simplified failure mechanism prior to performing finite element modeling and analysis. Results showed corresponding deformations for the crown and the excavation front to be 3.5cm (1.4in) and 6cm (2.4in), respectively. Considering the complexity of Mexico City's difficult subsoil formation, construction method selection becomes a challenge to overcome. The use of a preliminary results in order to have a notion of possible deformations prior to advanced modeling and analysis could be beneficial and helpful to select possible construction procedures.

        AUTOCOMMUTATORS AND AUTO-BELL GROUPS

        Let x be an element of a group G and be an automorphism of G. Then for a positive integer n, the autocommutator $[x,_n{\alpha}]$ is defined inductively by $[x,{\alpha}]=x^{-1}x^{\alpha}=x^{-1}{\alpha}(x)$ and $[x,_{n+1}{\alpha}]=[[x,_n{\alpha}],{\alpha}]$. We call the group G to be n-auto-Engel if $[x,_n{\alpha}]=[{\alpha},_nx]=1$ for all $x{\in}G$ and every ${\alpha}{\in}Aut(G)$, where $[{\alpha},x]=[x,{\alpha}]^{-1}$. Also, for any integer $n{\neq}0$, 1, a group G is called an n-auto-Bell group when $[x^n,{\alpha}]=[x,{\alpha}^n]$ for every $x{\in}G$ and each ${\alpha}{\in}Aut(G)$. In this paper, we investigate the properties of such groups and show that if G is an n-auto-Bell group, then the factor group $G/L_3(G)$ has finite exponent dividing 2n(n-1), where $L_3(G)$ is the third term of the upper autocentral series of G. Also, we give some examples and results about n-auto-Bell abelian groups.

        SOME PROPERTIES OF TENSOR CENTRE OF GROUPS

        Let $G{\otimes}G$ be the tensor square of a group G. The set of all elements a in G such that $a{\otimes}g\;=\;1_{\otimes}$, for all g in G, is called the tensor centre of G and denoted by $Z^{\otimes}^$(G). In this paper some properties of the tensor centre of G are obtained and the capability of the pair of groups (G, G') is determined. Finally, the structure of $J_2$(G) will be described, where $J_2$(G) is the kernel of the map $\kappa$ : $G{\otimes}\;{\rightarrow}\;G'$.
