• Connectedness network and dependence structure mechanism in green investments

Lundgren, Amanda Ivarsson,Milicevic, Adriana,Uddin, Gazi Salah,Kang, Sang Hoon Elsevier 2018 ENERGY ECONOMICS Vol.72 No.-

Abstract

We present an empirical study of renewable energy stock returns and their relation to four major investment asset classes—stocks, currency, US Treasury bonds, and oil—and several sources of uncertainty. Applying nonlinear causality and connectedness network analysis on data covering the period 2004–2016, we investigate the directionality and connectedness among different asset classes, as well as between uncertainties. First, from the results of the estimation of directionality and network spillovers, it can be concluded that the European stock market has a strong market dependence on renewable energy stock prices. Second, uncertainties have an economically significant impact on both return and volatility spillover in energy investments. Third, most of the uncertainties are net transmitters of volatility connectedness during the global financial crisis (GFC) and European sovereign debt crisis (ESDC).

Highlights

This study examines the nonlinear causality and connectedness network among renewable energy stock, four investments, and uncertainties.

The European stock market has strong market dependence renewable energy stock prices.

Most of the uncertainties are net transmitters of volatility connectedness during the 2008–2009 GFC and 2010–2012 ESDC.

      • Environmental Variable and Global Competition for Talent : The Case of Serbia

        Mica Jovanovic,Ana Langovic Milicevic,Tanja Cvetkovski 동아대학교 동아시아연구원 2012 동아시아 : 비교와 전망 Vol.11 No.1

Many theorists argue that literature is becoming less and less relevant to the education of young managers. They believe that genuine knowledge is gained by those who "work" since modern environment imposes global business which changes the traditional approach to education. Companies strive to expand their operations abroad, manage "talent" in a more strategic way and change traditional bureaucratic structures. Business communications is becoming intercultural, virtual and horizontal. The situation poses a dilemma- Does the literature appropriately follow these changes? In fact, bridging the gap of academic approach, that is, theory and practice–is the way to create a high-quality manager in the business world. The essential question is- Why does the gap exist? In fact, several studies have shown that managers rarely publish their business practices that can be analyzed from theoretical aspects as well and become useful for the future generations of managers. Some say that is because managers and theoreticians observe the problem from different aspects. Whatever the reason is, if the scholars do researches for themselves, there is the danger that the researches will exclude real world of business. In today's business world where changes are rapid, large and unpredictable, it seems more important than ever for academics to bridge the gap and establish cooperation with the people from practice. The reasons for this are very clear. Firstly, business people, that is, practitioners, can benefit from the theoretical knowledge management. Secondly, scientists will conduct better researches and convey the required knowledge to students and provide them with better understanding of the modern business environment and actions faced by practitioners. And thirdly, bridging this gap is likely to increase our credibility with the business community. The purpose of this research is to provide a brief overview of the forces that shape the environment, including changes that are manifested in the governance of business systems, but in the first place in human resource management.
