CONTINUITY OF THE FRACTIONAL PART FUNCTION AND DYNAMICS OF CIRCLE

LAL, BABU,MIGLANI, ASEEM,SINGH, VIZENDER The Korean Society for Computational and Applied M 2022 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.40 No.5-6

In this paper, we obtain some subsets of real numbers (ℝ) on which a fractional part function is defined as a real-valued continuous function. This gives rise to the analysis of the continuous properties of the fractional part function as a real-valued function. The analysis of fractional part function is helpful in the study of the dynamics of circle.

Effect of relative head position on the anesthetic efficacy of inferior alveolar nerve block during endodontic treatment of patients with irreversible pulpitis

Aggarwal, Vivek,Singla, Mamta,Miglani, Sanjay The Korean Dental Society of Anesthsiology 2018 Journal of Dental Anesthesia and Pain Medicine Vol.18 No.1

Background: The purpose of this prospective randomized single-blind clinical trial was to evaluate the effect of tilting the head on the anesthetic efficacy of inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) in patients with symptomatic irreversible pulpitis. Methods: Ninety-two patients were divided into two groups: the first group received IANB and the head was tilted in the direction of the block for 15 min, whereas the second group received IANB and the head was tilted to the opposite side. Access cavity preparation was initiated after 15 min. Success was defined as no pain or faint/weak/mild pain during endodontic access preparation and instrumentation. The anesthetic success rates were analyzed by Pearson chi-square test at 5% significance levels. Results: The same side position and opposite side position yielded 41% and 30% anesthetic success rates, respectively; there was no significant difference between the two sides. Conclusions: Relative head position has no effect on the anesthetic success rate of IANB.

Shear-flow rheology and viscoelastic instabilities of ethanol gel fuels

Nandagopalan, Purushothaman,John, Jerin,Baek, Seung Wook,Miglani, Ankur,Ardhianto, Kurniawan Elsevier 2018 Experimental thermal and fluid science Vol.99 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This study presents a rheological investigation to understand the instability mechanism in newly formulated ethanol gel (EG) fuels when subjected to simple shear flow in a cone-plate rheometer (CPR). Shear-thinning EG fuels are formulated using an organic gellant, Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC). EG fuels are sub-classified into concentrated, semi-dilute or dilute gels based on the consistency and elasticity number ( El ) that describes an interplay between the elastic effects and the viscous effects. The extent of shear-thinning effect in the zero-shear regime is found out by comparing shear-thinning parameter β , with an elastic parameter λ ∗ . The relation proves the existence of minimal elastic component even in the dilute gels. Ratio of normal stress to shear stress variation with Re , shows the existence of critical Re only for the semi-dilute and dilute gels (EG1-EG4) that marks the onset of elastic instability, whereas this transition is absent in concentrated EG5. During the shear process, two distinct phenomena are identified. First, in the low Wi regime, the presence of Normal stress N 1 induces the secondary flow based elastic instability, which is counterbalanced by the presence of another Normal stress N 2 to stabilize the flow. Secondly, in the high Wi regime, the polymer shows the maximum extension beyond which polymer breaks down with increase in the applied shear rate.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> New formulation methodology for the Ethanol based gel fuels. </LI> <LI> New gel fuels sub-classification based on the dimensionless parameters. </LI> <LI> Elastic effects of viscoelastic fluids at zero shear regime. </LI> <LI> Absence of critical viscoelastic instabilities transition in the concentrated gels. </LI> <LI> Normal stress effects upon the instability in low shear regimes. </LI> </UL> </P>

Rheology of solid-like ethanol fuel for hybrid rockets: Effect of type and concentration of gellants

        John, Jerin,Nandagopalan, Purushothaman,Baek, Seung Wook,Miglani, Ankur Elsevier 2017 Fuel Vol.209 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This study reports first findings on the solidification of eco-friendly ethanol fuel by organic gellant, namely, Methylcellulose (MC) and Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) for use as a solid fuel for the hybrid propulsion system. Specifically, the rheological properties of solidified ethanol are determined using both shear flow tests and dynamic oscillation tests for the gellant concentration varying in the range of 5wt% to 17wt% and nanoparticle loading varying in the range of 2wt% to 6wt% for HPMC and 2wt% to 4wt% for MC samples respectively. It is observed that over the range of applied shear rate (0.1–1000s−1) solidified ethanol fuels exhibit a strong shear thinning, high yield thixotropic behavior. The yield stress of the fuel sample ranges from 424.20–1252.40Pa, and found to the direct function of type, concentration of gellant and nanoparticle loading. Below the yield stress, the solid samples exhibit an elastic dominant behavior ( G ′ > G ″ ) and found to be independent of applied stress in the linear viscoelastic region. In dynamic tests, the spectra of G ′ ( ω ) and G ″ ( ω ) indicates that solidified ethanol forms a covalently cross-linked network between ethanol-water blend and gellant material. A key finding of this study reveals that all ethanol fuel formulations display solid-like characteristics under test conditions as G ′ and G ″ are nearly independent of the frequency and the magnitude of G ′ is 4.1–5.4 times higher than G ″ . Finally, the effect of gellant type on rheological behavior is studied where it is observed that the relative thixotropic area and creep strain of HPMC laden fuels is significantly higher compared to their MC counterparts which imparts them a viscous dominant character.</P>

An Ultra Wideband, Novel and Reliable RF MEMS Switch

Jha, Mayuri,Gogna, Rahul,Gaba, Gurjot Singh,Miglani, Rajan The Korean Institute of Electrical and Electronic 2016 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.17 No.4

This paper presents the design and characterization of wide band ohmic microswitch with an actuation voltage as low as 20~25 V, and a restoring force of 14.1 μN. The design of the proposed switch is primarily composed of an electrostatic actuator, bridge membrane, cantilever (beam) and coplanar waveguide, suspended over the substrate. The analysis shows an insertion loss of −0.002 dB at 1GHz and remains as low as −0.35 dB, even at 100 GHz. The isolation loss of the switch is sustained at −21.09 dB at 100GHz, with a peak value of −99.58 dB at 1 GHz and up-state capacitance of 4 fF. To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of a series contact switch, which works over a wide bandwidth (DC-100 GHz) and with such a high and sustained isolation, even at high frequencies and with an excellent figure of merit (fc=1/2.pi.Ron.Cu= 39.7 THz).

      • I-LEACH Protocol For Wireless Sensor Networks

Gurjot Singh Gaba,Himanshu Monga,Lavish Kansal,Rajan Miglani 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Multimedia and Ubiquitous Vol.11 No.8

Wireless Sensors Networks (WSN) have gained a lot of significance because of potential applications such as Marine engineering, Human body tissue study and animal life study. The scope of WSN is limited to some extent due to tiny battery inside the node, thus limiting the scope of applicability where replacing a battery is infeasible. A research to solve this issue has been proposed in this paper. The motivation behind this work is the LEACH protocol which is considered as the oldest technique for Energy Conservation in WSN. But with the advancement in the fabrication of nodes, this protocol needs to be altered to cater the needs. Analysis proved that Intelligent LEACH (I-LEACH) is better than MOD-LEACH approach (A variation to LEACH) in terms of increased lifetime. Results depict 54% increase in the lifetime of the network as compared to MOD-LEACH, which ensures longer connectivity and reliability.
