Two-dimensional plane stagnation flow is known to be linearly stable to three-dimensional disturbances. This three-dimensional disturbances is propotional to the streamwise-direction distance, not arbitrary disturbances. The purpose of this theoretical study is to show that the same flow destabilized if fluction levels are sufficiently high and arbitrary type. In the present formulation, finite-amplitude disturbances are expanded in terms of the eigenfunctions pertaining to coordinate perturbations. The growing disturbance takes the form of secondary vortice, i.e. vortices more or less parallel to the streamlines. The instability is usually confined to the boundary layer and spacing of the secondary vortices is analysed theoretically for the case of infinitesimal disturbances of the type first sturdied by Gortler and Hammerlin. The third order disturbances grows exponentially above certain critical intensity. The existence of such a threshold is in qualitative agreement with exerperimental studies of secondary vortices arising in flows past blunt bodies.
The Performance Evaluation of R407C and R410B in a Residential Window Air-Conditioner

This study presents test results of a residential window air-conditioner using R22 and two potential alternative refrigerants, R407C and R410B. A series of performance tests has been carried out for the basic and liquid-suction heat exchange cycles in a psychometric calorimeter test facility. For R407C, the same rotary compressor was used as in the R22 system. However, compressor for the R410B system was modified to provide the similar cooling capacity. The evaporator circuit was changed to get a counter-cross flow heat exchanger to take advantage of zeotropic mixture's temperature glide, and liquid-suction heat exchange cycle was also considered to improve the system performance. Test results were compared with those for the basic R22 system. The modified system with a liquid-suction heat exchanger increased cooling capacity and energy efficiency by up to 5%.
THE ROLE OF AMINES IN THE SYNTHESIS OF ZEOLITES BY WATER - ORGANIC VAPOR PHASE TRANSPORT

A number of articles have been published to illustrate the role of amines for the synthesis of zeolites and porosils. Some of the results are contradictory on the role of amines. In this study, the roles of amines are investigated by water-organic vapor-phase transport method. This method is attractive because the dilution effects by mother liquid can be avoided and the composition of the synthesized zeolite is equivalent to that of the parent gel. Thus, the relation between the gel and amine can be explained clearly. In the zeolite synthesis, the templating effect of amine is less plausible, whereas the molecules with higher dipole moment and appropriate dimension such as propylamine have higher effectiveness. The protonated amines cannot work as active cations independently but amines activate the inactive cations (organic and alkali) in the gel by means of reinforcement of the pH level in the gel.

Changes of paralytic shellfish toxin components and specific toxicity in blue mussel, Mytilus edulis and oyster, Crassostrea gigas during canning process were investigated by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). The mole% of the frozen shucked blue mussel were in order of 27.5 mole% of gonyuautoxin 1,23.0 mole% of gonyautoxin 8 (C1) and 23.0 mole% of epi-gonyautoxin 8(C2), while those of the frozen shucked oyster were in order of 29 mole% of C1, 22 mole% of C2, 16.7 mole% of gonyautoxin 2. Both samples had minor amounts of saxitoxin and neosaxitoxin. On the other hand, in case of specific toxicity, the major toxins were consisted of gonyautoxin 1-4 in both sample. The experimental results, C1, C2 and gonyautoxin 4 were very sensitive to heat treatment, while gonyautoxin 2 and saxitoxin were pretty heat resistant than any other toxin components.
