Nucleation and growth kinetics of II-O epitaxial layers deposited on SiC substrates have been investigated. ZnO nucleates initiallywith islands and switches to coalescences and grains with the increase of layer thickness, while MgxZn1. xO alloys grow with two-dimen-sional growth mode. The strain kinetics due to the driving forceDa/a favors the coherent growth of ZnO for the layer thickness of <6 nmand start to relax afterwards, while the MgxZn1. xO alloys relax slowly with the increase of Mg content. Although the atomic radii ofMg+2 (0.57 A˚) and Zn+2 (0.60 A˚to be. 3%. This has been attributed to the atomic relaxation in ZnO/MgO structure due to the lattice mist of. 2%, together with theinhomogeneous potential uctuations locally in the MgxZn1. xO alloys.

A 4πLaBr_3(Ce) spectrometer was designed for the measurements of neutron capture cross sections using a prompt γ-ray spectroscopic method with a time-of-flight technique. An optimum configuration for the 4πLaBr_3(Ce) spectrometer was chosen from four possible configurations based on comparison of simulated performance and cost of construction. Further simulations were performed to demonstrate performance of the 4πLaBr_3(Ce) spectrometer.
