Enhancing the capacitive deionization performance requires the inner structure expansion of porous activated carbon to facilitate the charge storage and electrolyte penetration. This work aimed to modify the porosity of coconut-shell activated carbon (AC) through CO2 activation at high temperature. The electrochemical performance of CO2-activated AC electrodes was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry, charge/discharge test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, which exhibited that AC-800 had the superior performance with the highest capacitance of 112 F/g at the rate of 0.1 A/g and could operate for up to 4000 cycles. Furthermore, in the capacitive deionization, AC-800 showed salt removal of 9.15 mg/g with a high absorption rate of 2.8 mg/g min and Ni(II) removal of 5.32 mg/g with a rate close to 1 mg/g.min. The results promote the potential application of CO2-activated AC for desalination as well as Ni-removal through capacitance deionization (CDI) technology.
Modified Skyhook Control of a Suspension System with Hydraulic Strut Mount

In this paper, a mathematical model of a quarter-car suspension system equipped with a hydraulic strut mount is investigated. It is assumed that only suspension deflection is measured. In contrast to the conventional suspension model, in which the effect of a strut mount is not included, damping-spring characteristics of the hydraulic strut mount have been added. Then a modified skyhook control for the proposed model is investigated in achieving both the ride quality and the handling performance. An algorithm to find the optimal skyhook parameters using root mean squares value of the sprung mass acceleration, the suspension deflection, and the tire deflection is introduced. Furthermore, a Kalman filter is introduced to estimate the required state variables for skyhook control.

The bifurcation phenomena in the neuronal system are known as to cause many neuronal diseases such as epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, or schizophrenia, etc. Therefore, understanding the dynamics and manipulation of bifurcation characteristics of the neuronal system are promising to provide diagnostic and therapy trajectories for these diseases. In this paper, we address the problem of bifurcation control of a Morris-Lecar (ML) neuron model. First, we analysis the dynamic behavior of a ML model, the stability of equilibrium points and the occurrence of Hopf bifurcations in the ML model are investigated. Second, we employ a washout filter-aided dynamic control law to achieve two bifurcation control objectives: stabilize the original Hopf bifurcation point and advance the Hopf bifurcation point toward a desired point. Finally, in order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods, numerical simulations are performed, the results of which are provided herein.
Road-Frequency Adaptive Control for Semi-Active Suspension Systems

In this paper, a road-frequency adaptive control for semi-active suspension systems is investigated. The control aims to improve the vehicle suspension performance (ride comfort and wheel handling) for all frequency regions of road disturbances. In order to achieve this aim, the control law is extended from the conventional skyhook control, and the controller gains are scheduled for various frequency regions of road disturbances. By using the data measured from a relative displacement sensor, a state estimator based on a Kalman filter for estimating the required state variables is designed. Road disturbance frequencies are estimated by using a first order zero-crossing algorithm. The efficiency of the proposed control is shown through numerical simulations.
The K\"{a}hler Different of a Set of Points in~$\pmpn$

Given an ACM set $\X$ of points in a multiprojective space $\pmpn$ over a field of characteristic zero, we are interested in studying the K\"ahler different and the Cayley-Bacharach property for $\X$. In $\bbP^1\times \bbP^1$, the Cayley-Bacharach property agrees with the complete intersection property and it is characterized by using the K\"ahler different. However, this result fails to hold in $\pmpn$ for $n>1$ or $m>1$. In this paper we start an investigation of the K\"ahler different and its Hilbert function and then prove that $\X$ is a complete intersection of type $(d_1,\ldots,d_m,d'_1,\ldots,d'_n)$ if and only if it has the Cayley-Bacharach property and the K\"ahler different is non-zero at a certain degree. We characterize the Cayley-Bacharach property of $\X$ under certain assumptions.
The Antecedents Of Brand Love Toward Natural Products: An Approach of S.O.R Theory

Purpose: Natural products are becoming gradually popular because of their health - related benefits and consumers' environmental awareness. However, research in this field remains limited, the present study attempts to address this research gap by measuring the influencing levels of the antecedents on natural product brand love. Research design, data and methodology: The study employs S-O-R (Stimulus - Organism - Response) framework together with Innovation Resistance Theory and Dual-Factor Theory to propose the research model, in which health and environmental stimuli influence both of facilitators and inhibitors of internal states or organism, and then shape purchase intention and brand love as consumers' responses. The mixed research method is designed with the application of structural equation model (SEM) to analyze 530 consumers collected by convenience sampling. Results: The results revealed that two chosen stimuli, including health awareness and environmental concern were positively related to both facilitators (natural content and regional products) and inhibitors (image barrier and usage barrier) and these four factors were significantly associated to purchase intention and brand love. Furthermore, purchase intention played the mediating role on the relationship between the four organisms and brand love. Conclusions: The originality of this paper is extend S-O-R theory into natural product context with mediating effects in an emerging economy. The findings make theoretical contribution on consumer behavior and managerial implication.

Objective: To compare left ventricular (LV) function, ejection fraction (EF), end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), and regional wall motion analyzed in 256-slice dualsource coronary CT angiography (DSCT) with 2D transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). Materials and Methods: One hundred twelve patients suspected of coronary artery disease underwent DSCT and 2D-TTE within one week for LVEF, EDV, and ESV. The correlation between DSCT and 2D-TTE measurements was analyzed through linear regression and Bland- Altman analysis. Regional wall motion was visually scored with a 3-point scale (1, normal; 2, hypokinesia; 3, dysphagia, akinesia). Results: Average LVEF at 66.45%±1.27% (range 23%–85%) as determined on DSCT compared with 66.09%±1.01% (range 25%–84%) on 2D-TTE. LVEF exhibited a good correlation between DSCT and 2D-TTE (r=0.715; p<0.001). Good correlations between DSCT and 2D-TTE were demonstrated for LVEDV (r=0.732; p<0.001) and LVESV (r=0.841; p<0.001). Mean differences (±SD) of 1.78±24.10 mL (p<0.05) and 0.77±13.70 mL (p<0.05) were observed between DSCT and 2D-TTE for LVEDV and LVESV, respectively. LVEF was slightly overestimated with DSCT (0.52%±9.59%; p<0.05). Although the LVEF values calculated by DSCT and 2D-TTE were similar, EDV and ESV from DSCT were statistically higher than those from 2D-TTE (p<0.05). Agreement between DSCT and 2D-TTE in regional wall motion was 96.4%, κ=0.840. Conclusion: DSCT can provide comparable results to those using 2D-TTE for LV function (EF, EDV, and ESV) and regional wall motion assessment in a heterogeneous population.
