Relaxation Time Distribution Function in Dipole Glass and Dynamically Correlated Domains
Yoon-SeockChoi,Jong-JeanKim 한국물리학회 2002 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.40 No.6
In an attempt to understand relaxation dynamics associated with the glass freezing transition in a dipole glass of DRADP-x, we examined low-frequency dielectric constant spectra as a function of the temperature. The very weak and broad dielectric spectrum observed at each temperature was analyzed by using the Tikhonov regularization method to derive relaxation time distribution functions at corresponding temperatures. A crossover change in the distribution function was explained in terms of the dynamically correlated domains.

Very broad low-frequency dielectric data of a surface-stablilized ferroelectric liquid crystal (SSFLC) sample were analyzed by use of the Tikhonov regularization method to derive three distinctive modes of relaxation. The mode dependence on the probe voltage was studied in detail for two dierent cases of surface treatments: one with an indium tin oxide (ITO) coating only and the other with a polyimide dressing and a rubbing treatment on top of the ITO coating. The origins of the three relaxation modes are discussed on the basis of the observed eects of dierent surface treatments, the voltage amplitude, and the probing frequency.
