OVERVIEW OF SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET POWER SUPPLY SYSTEM FOR THE KSTAR 1ST PLASMA EXPERIMENT

The KSTAR Magnet Power Supply (MPS) was dedicated to the SC coil commissioning and 1st plasma experiment as a part of the system commissioning. Although many efforts to develop large-current power supplies that are useful for high power electronic devices have been made in various application fields, such as for large metal-plating devices, there were clear discrepancies between conventional power supply technologies and that for the SC coils due to the special SC coil load conditions. Therefore, most of the power supply technologies for the SC coils were a challenge in the domestic research area due to their limited application. However, the MPS commissioning result showed that all of the hardware and controlling software operated well, and this result finally led to the success of SC coil commissioning and the KSTAR 1st plasma experiment. This paper will describe key features of KSTAR MPS for the 1st plasma experiment, and will also report the commissioning results of the magnet power supplies.

On the Crustal Deformation Study Using Permanent GPS Station in Korea Peninsula

This paper deals with the characteristics of strain pattern by using permanent GPS stations in Korea in terms of seismic activity and tectonics. Fourteen GPS stations involved in precise baseline vector solution and horizontal strain components were calculated using the differences of mean baseline from ten deily solutions during the time span of three years. The mean rate of maximum shear strain if 0.12 $\mu$/yr. The mean direction of principal axes of the compression is about $85^{\circ}$ N.

Recently the development of digital based measurement sensor with which a variety of surveying equipment and methods are being developed. In the field of aerial mapping using GPS, INS and Digital Camera instead of Film based Camera. In case of aerial photogrammetry for mapping, it is effective on wide area. But it is ineffective on narrow area. Therefore, the research experimented that used LiDAR sensor based mobile mapping systems for modify and update about region of Suwon and Yeouido. From these results a possibility and an effectiveness analyzed and evaluated LiDAR sensor based mobile mapping systems.

This paper describe the optimal design of geodetic network by analytical technique based on the quality criteria of network. We described an example of geodetic network design taking into account the precision, reliability and strength that are the main criteria of network design. The main goal of this paper is to evaluate the criteria to design the geodetic network coinciding with the criteria of geometrical strength and high reliability. From this study, the result shows relatively weaker strength in marginal part than the center of network. This indicated that the precision of observation in marginal part is relatively lower than the center.
