A role of Distribution Automation System(DAS) is required to be changed from observing and control to complex and various new system including functions which monitoring, control, prediction, operation and management of EMS type according to be gradually Smart Grid of distribution operation system for development of further power system industrial. IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission) published communication standards which interface and data model of distribution operation system to IEC 61968 and of host system like EMS(Energy Management System) to IEC 61970. So far, each standards are emphasizing themselves, but if they are applied by designed integration of the standards, it could be more efficiency system. So, in this paper, integration application of IEC standards and structure of further distribution operation system to use them are proposed by gradually increasing importance of communication protocols, functions and roles in further distribution management system considering Smart Grid.

In this paper, problems and solutions are proposed for applying IEC 61850 to Distribution Automation System(DAS). Communication protocol integration in power automation system have issued by IEC standards, IEC 61850 of them has researched for applying IEC 61850 to many areas of power system in spite of that it was made for substation automation system. Especially, DAS is just about to apply IEC 61850 by communication network change from serial to ethernet although DNP 3.0 is used. But it's impossible to apply directly IEC 61850 to DAS by difference of environment which unfixed wide area and separated nodes in power distribution system unlike concept of IEC 61850 is made by Substation Automation System(SAS) environment of limited space. Thus, this paper proposed applications of three types which conceptual, practical, and future to consider problems and solutions when apply IEC 61850 to Ethernet based DAS.

This paper proposes an enhanced noise robust algorithm for fault location on double-circuit transmission line for the case of single line-to-ground (SLG) fault, which uses distributed parameter line model that also considers the mutual coupling effect. The proposed algorithm requires the voltages and currents from single-terminal data only and does not require adjacent circuit current data. The fault distance can be simply determined by solving a second-order polynomial equation, which is achieved directly through the analysis of the circuit. The algorithm, which employs the faulted phase network and zero-sequence network with source impedance involved, effectively eliminates the effect of load flow and fault resistance on the accuracy of fault location. The proposed algorithm is tested using MATLAB/Simulink under different fault locations and shows high accuracy. The uncertainty of source impedance and the measurement errors are also included in the simulation and shows that the algorithm has high robustness.
