With the rapid development of aerospace and automobile industries, metal matrix composites have attracted much attention because of its excellent performance, such as high strength, low density and high temperature resistance. In this study, Ni-Cr/AC8A composites was manufactured under different infiltration temperatures, matrix material is AC8A and Ni-Cr is reinforcement, experimental temperature are 700℃, 750℃, 800℃ and 850℃ respectively. Observed the microstructure by optical microscope, the phases were mainly identified by studying the microstructures, EPMA and X-ray diffraction analyses, Al₃Ni and CrSi intermetallic compounds were found in the composites. Then using hardness tester measured vickers hardness of phases.
An Evaluation on Preform Process and Compressive Strength of Whisker reinforcement

Nowadays, many components in aerospace and automobile industry require lightness and high strength. And existent metal is confronted by limitation. Accordingly, there are many studies on Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) taking more excellent characteristics than existent metal material. MMC can obtain mechanical characteristics of application purposes that a single material is difficult to obtain. MMC is manufactured from preform by pressure casting. The pressure causes deformation or fault of manufactured MMC and preform. Accordingly, in order to maintain the preform shape enduring infiltration pressure, preform manufacture have to consider influence of binder and sintering temperature. This study manufactured preform by Aluminum Borate Whisker and researched effect of compressive strength on binder and sintering temperature of preform.

At present, welding technology is not only emphasized in the development if manufacturing technology but its application is also expanding. In these systems, attempts have been made to use SUS as a high-temperature material for special applications, and in improvements in manufacturing technologies bear watching, together with an increase in the use rate. Specifically, three-dimensional wings are often used for fasteners with the purpose of decreasing the weight (정해용, 2007). However, due to developments in welding technology, there has been a recent tendency to replace existing assembly methods with welding. Specifically, if laser welding techniques are applied, the heat-affected zone can be minimized compared toother welding techniques. However, in the case of these special welding techniques, there is an increase in residual stress, which fatally affects the fatigue life. In order to remove the residual stress and its effect on fatigue life, shot-peening is executed. The intention if this study was to obtain the optimal. conditions for shot-peening.

MMCs(Metal Matrix Composites) can obtain mechanical characteristics of application purposes that a single material is difficult to obtain. Al alloy composite material that nickel is added by reinforcement is used for piston of diesel engine, because high temperature properties, strength, corrosion resistant are improved excellently than existent Al alloy. And, in case of processing, interface between Ni and AI improves wear resistant by intermetallic compound of high hardness. Also, in the world, industrial circles are proceeding research to apply excellent composite material. Existent process methods of MMC using preform were manufactured by high-pressure. But, it cause deformation of preform or fault of completed MMC. Using low-pressure as infiltration pressure can prevent this problem, and there is an advantage that is able to reduce the cost of production by small scale of production equipment. Accordingly, process methods of MMC have to consider low-pressure infiltration for the strength of preform, and nowadays, there are many studies about reducing infiltration pressure. In this study produced Al composite material that Ni is added by reinforcement by low-pressure infiltration, and observed microstructure of completed MMCs.
