Diethyl 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate was efficiently synthesized via the O-alkylation of disodium salt of diethyl 3,4-dihydroxythiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate with 1,2-dichloroethane over ionic type phase transfer catalysts, such as tetrabutyl ammonium bromide and benzyltriethyl ammonium chloride. The ionic type phase transfer catalysts showed higher catalytic activities than the nonionic type phase transfer catalysts, such as triethylamine, pyridine, 18-crown-6, and polyethylene glycol 400/600, in the O-alkylation reaction. The conversion of the disodium salt of more than 97% and the selectivity of diethyl 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene-2,5-dicarboxylate of more than 98%were achieved when the O-alkylation reaction was synergistically catalyzed by tetrabutyl ammonium bromide and potassium iodide.

Objective: Pulmonary cement embolism (PCE) is an underestimated but potentially fatal complication after cement augmentation. Although the treatment and follow-up of PCE have been reported in the literature, the risk factors for PCE are so far less investigated. This study aims to identify the preoperative and intraoperative risk factors for the development of PCE. Methods: A total of 1,373 patients treated with the polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) augmentation technique were retrospectively included. Patients with PCE were divided into vertebral augmentation group and screw augmentation group. Possible risk factors were collected as follows: age, sex, bone mineral density, body mass index, diagnosis, comorbidity, surgical procedure, type of screw, augmented level, number of augmented vertebrae, fracture severity, presence of intravertebral cleft, cement volume, marked leakage in the paravertebral venous plexus, and periods of surgery. Binary logistic regression analyses were used to analyze independent risk factors for PCE. Results: PCE was identified in 32 patients, with an incidence rate of 2.33% (32 of 1,373). For patients who had undergone vertebral augmentation, marked leakage in the paravertebral venous plexus (odds ratio [OR], 1.2; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.1–10.3; p=0.000) and previous surgery (OR, 16.1; 95% CI, 4.2–61.0; p=0.007) were independent risk factors for PCE. Regarding patients who had undergone screw augmentation, the marked leakage in the paravertebral venous plexus (OR, 4.2; 95% CI, 0.5–37.3; p=0.004) was the main risk factor. Conclusion: Marked leakage in the paravertebral venous plexus and previous surgery were significant risk factors related to PCE. Paravertebral leakage and operator experience should be concerned when performing PMMA augmentation.
Event-triggered Extended Dissipative Control for Networked Singular Systems

In this paper, an event-triggered extended dissipative control problem for networked singular systems isinvestigated, where the extended dissipativity analysis unifies the H∞ performance, L2 −L∞ performance, passivity,(Q,S,R)-dissipativity in one framework. Under the event-triggered scheme, the closed-loop system is modeled asa time-delay system. Some sufficient conditions for extended dissipativity are developed and presented in terms oflinear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Then the design of the state feedback controller becomes a matter of solving aset of LMIs. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper addresses the problem of observer-based extended dissipative control for singular Markovian jump systems with time-varying delays. By using relaxed Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach and strict linear matrix inequality method, sufficient conditions are proposed to ensure that the delayed singular Markovian jumping system is stochastically admissible and extended dissipative. Based on these conditions, a desired observer-based memory state feedback controller is designed to ensure that the closed-loop system satisfies stochastic admissibility and extended dissipativity. Finally, two examples including a numerical example and an oil catalytic cracking process are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

This paper considers the topic of the observer-based non-fragile mixed passivity and H∞ state feedback control for time-varying delay and norm-bounded parameter uncertainties fuzzy stochastic Markovian jump system subject to quantized measurements. The aim of this paper is to provide a suitable observer-based non-fragile state feedback controller to enhance stochastic stabilization of the closed-loop system and satisfy mixed passivity and H∞ performance. By constructing mode-dependent Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, novel conditions are achieved in virtue of linear matrix inequalities. Two examples including truck-trailer model are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed method.
