AUTOMATIC ROAD EXTRACTION FROM 1M-RESOLUTION SATELLITE IMAGES

This paper addresses the extraction of roads from 1m-resolution satellite images. Among v~u-ious applications of satellite images, it is important to extract roads for Geographic Information System and urban planning, ete. Many approaches have been studied for airborne and low-resolution satellite images. However, these methods cannot be directly applied to high-resolution satellite images mainly because images contain more noises and roads are not line but regions. In this paper, we propose a region-based strategy for the extraction of roads from 1m-resolution satellite images. Firstly, by using an intensity-based segmentation scheme, regions representing road primitives are efficiently segmented. Secondly, road candidates are selected by region adjacency graph based an a prior knowledge about roads. Then, by comparing the profiles of road candidates with its adjacent profiles, roads can be expanded from road candidates. Using this strategy, we can currently extract most of roads identifiable by human in 1 m-resolution IKONOS satellite images.

Satellite images without value-added processing may be nothing but artistic painting. That is in order to benefit from satellite images acquired from money-drinking satellites, we should utilize the paramount information in scientific world and practical life that can be extracted from image. Hence, the Satellite Technology Research Center has developed a integrated software called $quot;Valadd-Pro$quot;. In this paper, the main components of the Valadd-Pro are briefly introduced, its value-added product are compared with PCI^ⓡ commercial software. Based on the results, the performance of the Valadd-Pro is superior to that of PCI^ⓡ on 6000x6000 SPOT panchromatic images.

To extract value-added products which are important in scientific area and practical life, e.g. digital elevation models, ortho-rectified images and geometric corrected images, Satellite Technology Research Center at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology has developed a satellite image processing software called "Valadd-Pro". In this paper, "Valadd-Pro" software is briefly introduced and its main components such as precise geometric correction, ortho-rectification and digital elevation model extraction component are described. The performance of "Valadd-Pro" software was assessed on 10m resolution 6000 $\times$ 6000 SPOT panchromatic images (60km $\times$ 60km) using ground control points from GPS measurements. The height accuracy was measured by comparing our results with 100m resolution $DTEDs^{1)}$ produced by USGS and 60m resolution DEMs generated from digitized contours produced by National Geography Institute. Also, to show the superior performance of "Valadd-Pro" software, we compared the performance with that of commonly used PCI$\circledR$ commercial software. Based on the results, the geometric correction of "Valadd-Pro" software needs fewer ground control points than that of PCI$\circledR$ software and the ortho-rectification of "Valadd-Pro" software shows similar performance to that of PCI$\circledR$ software. In the digital elevation model extraction, "Valadd-Pro" software is two times more accurate and four times faster than PCI$\circledR$ software.ccurate and four times faster than PCI$\circledR$ software.

위너 필터와 명암도 동시발생 행렬을 통한 컬러 레이저프린터 포렌식 기술

고성능 디지털 인쇄기기의 대중화와 손쉬운 이미지 편집 프로그램들의 등장으로 인하여 위·변조 범죄가 증가함에 따라 여러 가지 사회적인 문제를 야기하고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해서 디지털 포렌식 기술이 활발하게 연구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 디지털 포렌식 기술의 한 분야인 컬러 레이저 인쇄기기 판별기술을 제안한다. 각 제조사마다 인쇄방법이 다르기 때문에 육안으로 판별할 수 없는 미세한 차이가 출력물에 존재한다는 점을 이용하였다. 출력물의 노이즈를 추정하여 이러한 미세한 차이를 분석하였으며, 제안하는 방법에서는 출력물을 스캔한 이미지에 대해 위너필터를 거쳐 노이즈를 제거한 이미지를 차감하여 노이즈를 추출한다. 계산된 노이즈 대해 명암도 동시발생 행렬을 계산하여 특징값들을 추출한 뒤 이를 서포트 벡터 머신 분류기에 적용하여 인쇄기기를 판별하였다. 제안한 알고리즘의 성능을 분석하기 위하여 7대 프린터에서 각 371장씩 출력된 총 2,597장 이미지로 실험하였다. 제안한 알고리즘은 컬러 디지털 인쇄기기의 제조사를 판별하는데 있어서 97.6%의 정확률을 보였고, 동일 제조사의 모델을 판별하는데 84.5%의 정확률을 나타냈다. Color laser printers are nowadays abused to print or forge official documents and bills. Identifying color laser printers will be a step for media forensics. This paper presents a new method to identify color laser printers with printed color images. Since different printer companies use their own printing process, each of printed papers from different printers has a little different invisible noise. After the wiener-filter is used to analyze the invisible noises from each printer, we extract some features from these noises by calculating a gray level co-occurrence matrix. Then, these features are applied to train and classify the support vector machine for identifying the color laser printer. In the experiment, we use total 2,597 images from 7 color laser printers. The results prove that the presented identification method performs well using the noise features of color printed images.
Secure Bit-Plane Based Steganography for Secret Communication

<P>A secure method for steganography is proposed. Pixel-value differencing (PVD) steganography and bit-plane complexity segmentation (BPCS) steganography have the weakness of generating blocky effects and noise in smooth areas and being detectable with steganalysis. To overcome these weaknesses, a secure bit-plane based steganography method on the spatial domain is presented, which uses a robust measure to select noisy blocks for embedding messages. A matrix embedding technique is also applied to reduce the change of cover images. Given that the statistical property of cover images is well preserved in stego-images, the proposed method is undetectable by steganalysis that uses RS analysis or histogram-based analysis. The proposed method is compared with the PVD and BPCS steganography methods. Experimental results confirm that the proposed method is secure against potential attacks.</P>
