The European Union (EU) standard is applied to the emission standards of domestic diesel vehicles, and the emission standards for large-sized diesel vehicles are also introduced and strengthened in stages from Euro-1 to Euro-6, reflecting the domestic situation. Among large diesel vehicles, mass-produced natural regenerative DPFs often clog DPFs due to failure of regenerative conditions, resulting in increased ash accumulation, insufficient output and excessive exhaust emissions. As a result, the inspection failure rate of large diesel vehicles increased, resulting in an increase in unnecessary maintenance costs for consumers, including unexpected DPF cleaning expenses during re-inspection, and social costs for improving the atmospheric environment. Therefore, it is necessary to reflect only the combined regeneration method that can forcibly regenerate vehicles with excessive exhaust emissions among large diesel vehicles, and to expand support for installation cost for the installation of a PM-NOx reduction device. If system improvement is implemented as a way to further strengthen the inspection system afterwards, the effect of actively coping with the air environment improvement can be obtained. In conclusion, it can be used as a virtuous cycle tool for social cost benefits, as it can lead to a decrease in medical expenses and a decrease in DPF cleaning expenses due to an increase in human life expectancy.

Diesel engines emit PM and NOx during combustion. This is the main culprit of fine dust, which seriously affects the atmospheric environment. In particular, large-sized diesel vehicles over 3.5 tons emit a greater amount of pollutants because of their large displacement. The occurrence of vehicle abnormalities in this large-scale diesel vehicle causes even greater problems in the atmospheric environment. It was confirmed that there were many problems caused by natural regeneration DPF among large-sized diesel vehicles. Therefore, the most effective maintenance plan is suggested.

The DPF attachment project is currently being promoted by the Special Act on the Improvement of the Atmospheric Environment in the Atmospheric Management Area, and the DPF attachment of natural and complex regeneration methods is being implemented. In addition, the PM-NOx reduction device attachment project is being implemented in the second basic plan for air environment management in the metropolitan area. The PM-NOx reduction device attachment project is a diesel vehicle with an engine displacement of 6000cc or more below the EURO3 emission standard manufactured before 2008, and its target is very limited. As a result of the verification through the analysis of the cause of inadequate exhaust gas in the driving vehicle inspection, it was investigated that the cause of DPF abnormality caused by the accumulation of ash due to the failure of DPF regeneration in vehicles equipped with natural regeneration DPF applied to EURO4,5 occupied a large part. Accordingly, in the DPF attachment project, the natural regeneration method DPF attachment was abolished, the complex regeneration method DPF only attached, and the PM-NOx reduction device attachment project was expanded and promoted to promote the reduction of fine dust and the global atmosphere. It will have a good effect not only on the improvement effect but also on the extension of human life expectancy.
