        Pointless Form of Rough Sets

        In this paper we introduce the pointfree version of rough sets. For this we consider a lattice L instead of the power set P(X) of a set X. We study the properties of lower and upper pointfree approximation, precise elements, and their relation with prime elements. Also, we study lower and upper pointfree approximation as a Galois connection, and discuss the relations between partitions and Galois connections.

        Plasmonic-like waves on a chain of capacitively coupled rings of quantum dot tetramers

        In this paper, we consider a linear structure consisting of a specific array of capacitively coupled identical rings of quantum dot tetramers (QDT), where each ring consists of four, nearest neighbor tunnel-coupled, single-orbital quantum dots (QD) in the presence of Aharonov-Bohm (AB) magnetic flux. We show that due to a.c properties of QDT ring when subjected to AB flux, low frequency plasmonic-like waves can propagate on such a structure. Using exact diagonalization method, we, at first, determine the a.c responses and admittances between pairs of QDs in a single ring of QDT when threaded by AB flux. We then, using linear response theory, consider a specific array of identical QDT rings where each ring is coupled capacitively to its nearest neighbors.We present the necessary formulas and derive the equation for determining the dispersion relation and cut-off frequency. Finally, we numerically demonstrate the influence of the AB flux and the strength of coupling between the rings on the bandwidth of dispersion relation and its cut-off frequency.

        Multi-derivations and some approximations

        In this paper, we introduce the multi-derivations on rings and present some examples of such derivations. Then, we unify the system of functional equations defining a multi-derivation to a single formula. Applying a fixed point theorem, we will establish the generalized Hyers--Ulam stability of multi-derivations in Banach module whose upper bounds are controlled by a general function. Moreover, we give some important applications of this result to obtain the known stability outcomes.

        Temperature nonuniformity management in heat sinks through applying counterflow design complex minichannels

        Thanks to the electronic industrial revolution, miniaturization, which is a trend to manufacture smallerproducts and devices, has been extended to hardware components. In these devices, the heat flux magnitude increasesdue to the smaller surface area. Therefore, heat dissipation and temperature uniformity are crucial issues that must bemanaged precisely, otherwise destructive effects on system performance and device lifespan are unavoidable. Heat sinksare efficient equipment utilized to solve these dire consequences. In this study, to improve the temperature uniformityof electronic components, novel minichannels, including straight walls with wavy fins (SWS) and wavy walls withstraight fins (WSW), were examined with counter-flow patterns. The observations imply that these novel minichannelsbring 18.1-40.3% decrease of the base temperature under the heat flux of 100 kW m2. It is also revealed that using thenovel minichannels can increase the temperature uniformity up to 93.1%. In addition, overall hydrothermal performancecan be enhanced as high as 1.64 under the pumping power of 0.0374W. It was also found that the use of WSWmodels leads to lower magnitudes of pumping power compared to SWS models. It is concluded that applying the proposedminichannels could be an efficient approach to manage temperature non-uniformity in heat sinks.

        Rapid Detection of Rifampicin- and Isoniazid- Resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis using TaqMan Allelic Discrimination

        Objectives: Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is a global problem that many countries are challenged with. Rapid and accurate detection of MDR-TB is critical for appropriate treatment and controlling of TB. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the TaqMan allelic discrimination without minor groove binder (MGB) as a rapid, efficient, and low-cost method for detection of drug resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Methods: A total of 112 M. tuberculosis isolates from cases with diagnosed TB were subjected to drug susceptibility testing (DST), using the proportion method. Resistant isolates were tested for characterization of mutations in the rpoB and KatG genes by TaqMan genotyping. Results: Of 112 M. tuberculosis isolates for which DST was performed, three, one, and two isolates were MDR, rifampin (RIF) resistant, and isoniazid (INH) resistant, respectively. According to the threshold cycle (Ct) and curve pattern of mutants, TaqMan probes detect all of the mutations in the analyzed genes (katG 315, AGC→ACC, rpoB 531, TCG→TTG, and rpoB 531, TCG→TGG). Conclusion: The present study suggests that drug-resistant strains of M. tuberculosis can be detected by pattern’s curve or Ct with TaqMan probes without MGB in real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
