This work discusses the plasma characteristics and chemistry in CF4+Ar, Cl2+Ar and HBr+Ar gas systems in a comparative scale under one and the same operating condition. The investigation was carried out using the combination of plasma diagnostics by Langmuir probes and 0-dimensional plasma modeling in the planar inductively coupled plasma reactor at constant gas pressure (1.33Pa), input power (800W) and bias power (300W), but with variable (0-80%) Ar fraction in a feed gas. The study was focused on the parameters influencing the kinetics of ion-assisted chemical reaction and thus, determining the output characteristics of the etching process (etching rate, anisotropy). These parameters are the fluxes of F, Cl or Br atoms, ion bombardment energy, ion energy flux and neutral/charged species ratio. The differences between CF4+Ar, Cl2+Ar and HBr+Ar plasmas which seem to be important for the correct choice of the working gas for the particular etched material were discussed and explained in the framework of formation-decay kinetics of neutral and charged species.

<▼1><P>Transparent yet photoluminescent, materials with facile processability are key in many applications.</P></▼1><▼2><P>Materials that combine photoluminescence, optical transparency and facile processability are of high importance in many applications. This article reports on the development of photoluminescent poly(methyl methacrylate) materials based on novel highly emissive anionic molybdenum cluster complex [{Mo6I8}(OTs)6]2− (where OTs− is the <I>p</I>-toluenesulfonate ion). The materials were obtained by both solution and bulk copolymerisation of methyl methacrylate and (dMDAEMA)2[{Mo6I8}(OTs)6], where dMDAEMA+ is the polymerisable cation [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]dimethyl-dodecylammonium. Evaluation of the resultant hybrid materials showed that one could combine the excellent photoluminescent properties of the cluster complex with the transparency and processability of PMMA.</P></▼2>

<P></P> <P>Dimethyl sulfide (DMS) is an important compound in monitoring climate change and is monitored by the World Meteorological Organization Global Atmospheric Watch Volatile Organic Compounds (WMO-GAW VOC) program at several monitoring sites. It is essential that measurement results are accurate and consistent among the assigned values for primary gas mixtures to meet the WMO requirement. The purpose of this comparison is to compare the measurement capability of DMS at approximately 10 μmol/mol and expectation to contribute the establishment of traceability to single measurement scale for DMS between NMIs.</P> <H2>Main text</H2> <P>To reach the main text of this paper, click on <A HREF='http://www.bipm.org/utils/common/pdf/final_reports/QM/K94/CCQM-K94_Final_Report.pdf'>Final Report</A>.
