차세대 콘솔 게임기를 위한 스포츠 게임 캐릭터 개발 변화

오늘날 게임산업은 산업으로의 이윤 창출의 목적과 비약적인 IT기술의 발전을 통하여, 멀티미디어 산업의 핵심분야로 발전하였다. 이러한 컴퓨터 기술의 발달은 게임시장에서 게임에 특화된 매체인 콘솔 게임기의 지속적 성장을 이끌어왔으며, 최근 차세대 게임기의 출시로 콘솔시장은 또한번의 급격한 성장동력을 얻게 되었다. 또한 차세대 콘솔의 등장은 그간 게임 제작사에서 프로토타입단계로 선보여졌던 신기술들의 본격 상용화를 의미하며, 시각적으로 게임 그래픽이 한 단계 더 발전할 수 있는 촉매제가 되리라 업계는 판단하고 있는 상황이다. 이렇듯 새로운 콘솔기기의 등장은 곧 게임 콘텐츠의 시각적 발전을 의미하기에, 차세대 콘솔기기의 기능적 비교와 함께 차세대 콘솔 게임의 캐릭터 개발과 관련된 변화들에 대한 실무적 관점의 분석이 필요하다고 판단하였다. 이런 이유로 본 연구는 차세대 콘솔게임을 규정하고 그것의 역사를 선행연구로 살펴본 후, 차세대 콘솔 게임기의 진보된 기술력을 보여주는 스포츠 게임인 피파14를 가지고 스포츠 게임 속 캐릭터 구현의 핵심적 변화들을 다섯 가지로 분석하는 것에 연구의 목적을 두고 있다. 또한 차세대 게임에서 구현된 다양한 캐릭터 개발과정에 대한 실무적 관점의 비교와 정보의 제공을 통하여, 차세대 게임 캐릭터 개발에 도움을 줄 수 있는 또 다른 가이드라인을 표준화하여 개발자들에게 개발의 기획부터 시스템 구축에 필요한 캐릭터 구현 정보를 제공함에 연구의 의의가 있다고 본다. Modern game development business has shown its progress as the core section of multi-media industry throughout the huge improvement of both elevating revenue growth and innovative IT technology. Due to the steady improvement of computing process, game system developers were able to produce the specific evolved media such as next-generation console game system. This development was successfully implemented to express the both graphical satisfaction and technical optimization to achieve the high quality of contents from the next-generation game market by presenting the testimonial showcase where the prototype stage was performed in the past console development cycle. This study decided there are needs to analyse the changes of developing the next-generation console game system in the practical point of view, therefore the study will define the console’s meaning by researching the history of console game system with adopting FIFA 14 sport game, where the five core changes has applied to the game character implementation in next-generation console system. In addition, this study has its purpose to provide not only the standardization of complemented guideline in character development, but also case study of operational system set up in the next-generation sport games comparing previous generation game titles through the practical point of view.
