국가별 해양으로의 플라스틱 폐기물 배출량은 중국, 인도네시아, 필리핀, 베트남 순으로 높으며, 중국은 양쯔강과 황해의 해류, 인도네시아, 필리핀, 베트남은 쿠로시오 난류 및 쓰시마 해류에 의해 우리나라 제주 남서측 해역으로 플라스틱이 유입되고, 유입되는 과정에서 광분해에 의해 작게 분해되어 미세플라스틱 형태로 유입된다. 따라서 2020년 8월 제주 남서측 해역을 중심으로 23개 정점을 선정하여 표층수 30L를 20um 체에 여과 후 미세플라스틱 풍도(abundance), 성상, 형태, 크기 등을 분석하여 해류에 의해 유입되는 미세플라스틱의 분포특성을 살펴보았다. 풍도(abundance)는 0.17~1.37(평균 0.47) particles/L를 보였으며, 제주를 중심으로 서측에 위한 정점에서 다른 정점에 비해 다소 높은 풍소를 보였다. 성상은 PE, PP, Polyester, Alkyd가 검출되었으며, 이중 PE와 PP가 60% 이상으로 다수 검출되었다. 형태는 Pragment(조각), Fiber(섬유) 2종류로 검출이 되었으며, Pragment(조각)이 약 80%, Fiber(섬유)이 약 20%로 Pragment(조각)이 우세하였으며, 남해를 중심으로 서측에서 동측으로 갈수록 Fiber(섬유)의 비율이 높아지는 경향을 보였다. 크기는 20um~300um 범위에서 전체 크기 80% 이상을 차지할 정도로 작은 크기가 우세함을 보였다. During the photolysis processes, plastic is decomposed and existed in the small particle which was known as microplastic. A microplastic sampling investigated 23 sites in the south-western part of Jeju, Korea was conducted in August 2020. Surface water (30L) was filtered through a 20um sieve before the abundance, shape, composition and size of the microplastic was analyzed. The microplastic abundance was 0.17~1.37 (average=0.47) particles/L. The result in this area was slightly higher than the west and centering on Jeju. In the composition, PE, PP, Polyester, and Alkyd were detected (especially >60% detection rare of PE and PP). Beside, about 80% Fragment and 20% Fiber were found. Regarding the size of microplastic analysis, the range of 20um~300um is dominant with a more than 80% proportion.
