Poly(4-vinylpyridine)-supported $Br{\phi}nsted$ acids (P4VP-HX) were prepared by wet impregnation technique. These supported acids were found as efficient heterogeneous green catalysts for acetylation of alcohol, amine and phenol with different catalytic activities. The wide application of P4VP-HX as reusable solid acid catalyst in organic reactions is possible because of its simple preparation and handling, stability, simple work up procedure.

The most challenging field of concern these days is energy conservation in various applications. Energy crisis led a way to green computing and green computing needs an efficient redesign of algorithms and mechanisms to meet the desired energy efficiency. Green IT is a study and practice which can reduce energy consumption significantly. In this paper various efficient energy saving Green IT methods are discussed. As cloud computing has become a fast emerging technology this days, some energy saving strategy for cloud computing has also been discussed in the paper. Most of the IT sector energy consumption happens in data centers. Virtual Machine migration an emerging energy aware technology used in data centers is also discussed in the paper. Finally some power conserving matrix parameters are given importance.
Texture zeros of low-energy Majorana neutrino mass matrix in 3+1 scheme

<P>In this work we revisit the zero textures in low energy Majorana neutrino mass matrix when the active neutrino sector is extended by a light sterile neutrino in the eV scale, i.e., the 3 + 1 scheme. In 3 + 1 scenario, the low energy neutrino mass matrix (m(v)) has ten independent elements. Thus in principle one can have minimum one-zero texture to maximum ten-zero texture. We summarize the previous results of one, two, three, and four-zero textures which already exist in the literature and present our new results on five-zero textures. In our analysis we find that among six possible five-zero textures, only one is allowed by the present data. We discuss possible theoretical model which can explain the origin of the allowed five-zero texture and discuss other possible implications of such a scenario. Our results also concludes that in 3 + 1 scheme, one cannot have more than five-zeros in m(v).</P>
Miniaturization of a CPW-fed Dual-Band Antenna for GSM 1800/1900 and WLAN 5 GHz Applications

This paper presents a unique and miniaturized dual-band coplanar waveguide (CPW-fed) antenna for modern wireless communication. A new technique of using a modified ground structure (MGS) and frequency shifting strips (FSS) has been employed in the design to achieve dual-frequency operation. The proposed antenna generates two separate impedance bandwidths and covers the minimum required frequency bands of GSM 1800, GSM 1900, and Wi-Fi/WLAN 5 GHz. The proposed antenna is relatively small ($17{\times}20mm^2$) and operates over frequency ranges 1.51~2.06 and 4.43~6.70 GHz. The designed antenna was simulated using Ansoft HFSS, a FEM based simulator, and antenna characteristics, such as reflection coefficient, gain, radiation efficiency, radiation pattern, impedance bandwidth, VSWR, surface current, and electric field distributions, are reported in this paper. The effect of the antenna's key structural parameters on its performance is also analyzed.

Background: Mechanical ventilation (MV) is a necessary life-saving measure for critically ill patients. Ventilator-associated events (VAEs) are potentially avoidable complications associated with MV that can double the rate of death. Oral care and oropharyngeal suctioning, although neglected procedures, play a vital role in the prevention of VAE.Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted in the intensive care units to compare the effect of fourth hourly oropharyngeal suctioning with the standard oral care protocol on VAE among patients on MV. One hundred twenty mechanically ventilated patients who were freshly intubated and expected to be on ventilator support for the next 72 hours were randomly allocated to the control or intervention groups. The intervention was fourth hourly oropharyngeal suctioning along with the standard oral care procedure. The control group received standard oral care (i.e., thrice a day) and on-demand oral suctioning. On the 3rd and 7th days following the intervention, endotracheal aspirates were sent to rule out ventilator-associated pneumonia.Results: Both groups were homogenous at baseline with respect to their clinical characteristics. The intervention group had fewer VAEs (56.7%) than the control group (78.3%) which was significant at P<0.01. A significant reduction in the status of “positive culture” on ET aspirate also been observed following the 3rd day of the intervention (P<0.001).Conclusions: One of the most basic preventive strategies is providing oral care. Oropharyngeal suctioning is also an important component of oral care that prevents microaspiration. Hence, fourth-hourly oropharyngeal suctioning with standard oral care significantly reduces the incidence of VAE.
Effects of Modified Ground Structure on a CPW-fed Patch Antenna

This paper presents a study of a coplanar waveguide (CPW-fed) antenna using a Modified Ground Structure (MGS). The antennas studied are relatively small in size (17 x 20) mm2 and was designed on a low-cost FR-4 substrate. The presented antenna models shows improvements in the impedance bandwidth, the center frequency and operating bands with the stages of modification being introduced in the ground structure. The designed antennas were simulated using Ansoft HFSS, a FEM based simulator and antenna’s characteristics such as Reflection coefficient, Center frequency, Operating frequency bands, Impedance bandwidth, and VSWR are reported in this paper.
