Acoustic classification of dwellings – Brief history and actual situation
Birgit Rasmussen 한국소음진동공학회 2018 한국소음진동공학회 세미나 Vol.2018 No.11
Descriptors, regulations and classification schemes vary significantly across Europe. Acoustic regulations typically for new-build only Neighbour noise seemingly quite high in existing housing – dependant on constructions and people – but most often not included in surveys Acoustic classification useful for “visibility” of acoustic quality Acoustics has become a part of sustainability / life cycle certification Initiatives - Research needs - Expected results Make acoustic conditions more visible for existing/old housing by introducing a “label” with an acoustic class, thus speeding up awareness about the need for improving acoustics in housing Revise building regulations to include requirements or guidelines for improving sound insulation, when renovating housing Include neighbour noise in surveys and investigate the influence of neighbour noise on health Finalize ISO/WI 19488 and upgrade later, e.g. with classification of rubber ball impact sound, when studies and methods are finalized In the long run: Quieter homes and happier people
