<P>In this study, we have reported the fabrication and device characteristics of metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) grown 1.3-µm InP-based InGaAsP multiquantum well ridge waveguide laser diodes (LDs) for communication systems. The LD parameters such as threshold current, differential resistivity and output power for SiO2 and SiNx passivation layers have been compared. Fabricated LDs have a threshold current, differential resistivity and output power values of 42 mA, 20 Ω, 9.3 mW and 51 mA, 25 Ω, 6.8 mW for SiO2 and SiNx passivation layers, respectively. The analyses showed that the fabricated LD with SiO2 passivation layer has a better performance than the other one in the view of lower threshold current, differential resistivity and higher output power. The influences of Al doping on the structural, magnetic and dynamical properties of BaFe$_{12-x}$Al$_x$O$_{19}$ solid solutions ($x = 0.1$--1.2) have been studied by using a combination of X-ray diffraction, neutron diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. The magnetic moment of every Fe atom, including combinations, has been defined, and the magnetic moment of Fe$^{3+}$ ions was found to decrease as the concentration of Al$^{3+}$ diamagnetic ions in the combinations increased. Studies carried out by using infrared spectroscopy showed that four oscillations under normal conditions in these combinations. The results obtained by using infrared spectroscopy for BaFe$_{12-x}$Al$_x$O$_{19}$ combinations were compared with the results obtained by using Raman spectroscopy.
CAPS markers specific to Eb, Ee, and R genomes in the tribe Triticeae
Somers, D.J.,Li, X.-M.,Lee, B.S.,Mammadov, A.C.,Koo, B.-C.,Mott, I.W.,Wang, R.R.-C. Canadian Science Publishing 2007 Genome Vol.50 No.4
<P> Wild Triticeae grasses serve as important gene pools for forage and cereal crops. Understanding their genome compositions is pivotal for efficient use of this vast gene pool in germplasm-enhancement programs. Several cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (CAPS) markers were developed to distinguish the Eb, Ee, and R genomes. With the aid of disomic addition lines of wheat, it was confirmed that all 7 chromosomes of Eb, Ee, and R genomes carry these genome-specific CAPS markers. Thus, the identified CAPS markers are useful in detecting and monitoring the chromosomes of these 3 genomes. This study also provides evidence suggesting that some Purdue and Chinese germplasm lines developed for barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) resistance are different from those developed in Australia. Furthermore, Thinopyrum intermedium and Thinopyrum ponticum were shown to have different genome constitutions. Sequence analyses of the 1272 bp sequences, containing Ty3/gypsy retrotransposons, from the Eb, Ee, and R genomes also shed light on the evolution of these 3 genomes. </P>
