Tower shell design is very important because tower takes about 20% of overall wind turbine cost. This paper contains procedure of tower analysis and tower shell thickness optimization concept. Some of requirements like eigenfrequency and buckling evaluated by numerical method. But strength and fatigue can be derived by mathematical method simply. Using this procedure, tower shell thickness can be designed without repetition of complicated calculation.

This paper proposed an optimal plate spring design for the optical pickup suspension. This method requires an analytic solution of plate spring suspension and it can be obtained by Castigliano's theorem and moment equilibrium. However, it is very complex due to the many design variables coupled and some constraints such as pitching angle in focusing motion caused by the characteristics of plate spring. Because of the complex formulation of the analytical solution that is used as the design objective, the genetic algorithm is used to find the optimal design value satisfying design constraints.

This paper addresses the measurement of structural loads on the Unison U50 wind turbine. The load measurement are carried out to determine the actual loads acting on a wind turbine. This is needed not only the certification process but also improving the technical development for prototype wind turbine. The measurement system is consists of measuring load, operating quantities and meteorological signal. All data that occur during the operating of a WT are stored the data acquisition system automatically. With using the measured data, load spectrum and equivalent load are evaluated according to IEC61400-13 Measurement of mechanical loads.

This study proposes an essential process of type certificate, which is load comparison for proving the calculated design load. The load measurement was carried out according to IEC 61400-13 standard and the load calculation was performed with same condition using FLEX 5 code. For more accurate load simulation, the controller parameter of original model at the design stage was modified to site optimized value and some node points are added to coincidence with measurement. The load comparison was performed with various wind parameter, turbulence intensity and wind shear. As a result, simulated loads ware good agreed with the measured load. Therefore, the calculated design loads according to IEC 61400-1 standard were proved to valid.

This study investigated the antibacterial effects of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl, 50~200 ppm of Cl₂) and floating-electrode barrier discharge (FE-DBD) plasma (1.1 kV, 43 kHz, 1.5 L/min N₂) on V. parahaemolyticus biofilms on fresh salmon. In the case of NaOCl, when treated for 5 min at 50, 100, 150 and 200 ppm, it decreased by 0.48, 0.61, 0.83 and 1.09 log10 CFU/cm², respectively. In addition, when treated with FE-DBD plasma for 5, 10, 30 and 60 min, it decreased by 0.41, 0.66, 0.82 and 1.06 log10 CFU/cm². V. parahaemolyticus biofilms were significantly reduced (P < 0.05) with increasing treatment concentration and time. According to these results, NaOCl and FE-DBD plasma treatment for raw salmon can be used as an antimicrobial biofilm agent by inhibiting V. parahaemolyticus biofilm formation, which is a problem in seafood, and can be applied in the seafood industry to increase food safety.
