The purpose of this study is to investigate of combination dyeing of silk fabrics with sweet potato stem·leaf extract and tannin-contained plants extract through searching optimized dyeing conditions, examining dyeing properties and assuring values as pleochroic dye to vitalize the resources of sweet potato stem·leaves that are discarded bigger amount compared to sweet potato roots and look for possibility as natural dyeing resources. Combination dyeing with tannin-containing plants extract is carried out for dyeing affinity improvements, the highest K/S value was obtained by giving variety to each pH and examined dyeing property by giving difference to mordanting method and mordant kinds to obtain color difference of various tones. The experiment results for optimized dyeing conditions in combination dyeing with tannin-containing plants extract using sweet potato stem·leaf extraction is as following. The highest K/S value was achieved in combination dyeing of sweet potato stem·leaf extract : chestnut shell extract as 80:20, sweet potato stem·leaf extract : pine bark extract as 50:50, sweet potato stem·leaf extract : chaenomelis fructus extract as 80:20 for 60 minutes of dyeing time at 90℃ dyeing temperature. And all of combination dyeing showed deep color difference from R to RP in after mordanting with Fe. In color fastness (washing, dry cleaning, sunlight, friction and sweat) measurement, it showed slightly lower grade in washing and sunlight fastness of combination dyeing using chestnut shell, pine bark and chaenomelis fructus than exclusive dyeing using sweet potato stem·leaf extract, and highly improved experiment results in friction and sweat fastness.
