The mechanical dehumidifying process needs a lot of energy to maintain the constant indoor humidity at the partial load condition. The HyKhan air handling unit applies the hybrid dehumidification system to reuse the condenser waste heat. So, the HyKahn air handling unit can save about 30% of chilled water and 65% of power consumption, comparing with the mechanical dehumidification system.

The conventional dehumidifier using one desiccant rotor needs a lot of energy to make low humidity air for the super-low humidity dry room. The dehumidifier using two desiccant rotors reuses the reactivation air of second rotor for the reactivation of the first rotor. So the twin rotor system can save about 30% of energy, comparing with a conventional dehumidifier. In addition, it can save the installation space.

Heat pump type hot air dryer with cooling function is being developed and tested in this study. For drying temperature of 40~70℃, drying factor becomes 2.0 kg/kWh which is about 2.5 times greater than that of an electric type dryer. If necessary, cooling can be done with this type, a unique feature not found in other dryers. To achieve heat pump COP greater than 3.0, evaporator saturation temperature higher than 2℃ is recommended.
