현행 분기기 분기선측 최대 통과속도 제한기준은 단분기의 주행안전성 확보를 위한 기준을 준용한 것으로 이는 분기기 이격거리와 연속된 분기기를 고려하지 않는 최대 통과속도이며, 연속된 분기기를 통과하는 국내,외 분기기 최대 통과속도 산정 기준은 없는 실정이다. 또한 국내에 부설된 연속 #8 분기기의 경우 지속적인 정거장 탈선 사고가 일어나고 있으며 열차운행 및 입환시 안전성 향상이 지속적으로 요구되고 있다. 본 연구는 대부분 역구내에 설치 사용중인 3연속 분기기(#8)를 대상으로 차량 진행시 발생하는 차량거동 특성을, 분기기 이격거리별 증속시험(5km/h ⇒ 10km/h ⇒ 15km/h ⇒ 20km/h ⇒ 25km/h) 승차감분석을 시행하여 분기기 선형으로 인한 차량주행특성을 철도차량 기술기준, UIC518에 의거하여 안전성(차체 좌우,상하, 대차 좌우 방향 진동가속도)을 분석 및 검토 하였다.
